Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

What we need to find out is how is it the Americans are getting CRDs with 570Nm of torque against our 550Nm. It sure as hell isn't the addition of urea tanks. Or perhaps that is why they need urea and we don't. If it's just an updated remap, then how do we get it? The dealers won't tell us sh*t. I wonder if Milous's contacts would know?

I wonder if our system will take the added pressure? I'm mindfull of John47 having blown a pressure line. I hope that was just a one off.

It was a fuel rail sensor that faulted on ours.......and required replacement of the fuel rail as the sensor is embedded - 3 weeks off the road waiting for the part.
The scary thing though was the engine shut down at 100kph on the highway with a B double truck tight in behind, (while towing a caravan) with every warning light flashing and bonging like fury. It was a very narrow part of the road and not possible to get the combination completely off the road. The vehicle couldn't be restarted.....................
Lots more to this saga but not necessary here - suffice to say personally I'm really wary of anything that increases rail pressure - on the other hand I've not seen this failure reported by anyone else - and the vehicle has clocked up 30,000K since.
John

That sould be "...2000bar vs our 1800bar". Any easy typo. 1bar = 100kPa = 14.5psi. 2000bar is about twice the pressure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

Come on Bob...pull the trigger on the Bluespark!!! Whats a few bar between Mates!! It's designed to take max fuel rail pressure design into account. That 2014 CRD is no different to the one under your bonnet!!

Yes it's only a matter of time but for now I have to direct a bit more attention to the ball and chain rather than the Jeep and trailer.
