Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I agree with Glenn, for a 1st class Technocrat like you Bob , the Bluespark is a stand out winner, best bang for bucks by a country mile. Plus you can use the VAT refund dough to take the missus out for dinner !!!

It was a very narrow part of the road and not possible to get the combination completely off the road. The vehicle couldn't be restarted.....................
Lots more to this saga but not necessary here - suffice to say personally I'm really wary of anything that increases rail pressure - on the other hand I've not seen this failure reported by anyone else - and the vehicle has clocked up 30,000K since.

Just after I read this there was a news report of a lady killed by a following truck as her veedub suddenly stopped. Apparently VW are having issues with their dual clutch gearboxes and fuel pressure but they won't admit it. Sound familiar? See Lateline - 31/05/2013: Federal Transport Department investigates alleged engine failure in Volkswagen models . 400,000 and 91,000 cars recalled in China and Japan repectively. The old Jeep doesn't sound too bad after all!

I have tried a few settings now, it came on map 6, power 75%, this felt very strong and engine was very willing to rev!. I tried map 7, power 95%, even more zing, felt super strong, I found I was having to be very very gentle on the throttle or I was using about 2L/100 more fuel than before chip (it was fun though ;-) ), I am now running it on map 3, power 80%, still more willing to rev, and it feels like it bogs down less on hills without having to down shift, also using @ 1L/100 less fuel around town (added bonus). Easy to install and it has thrown no codes on any of the settings, for under $500 AU landed to my door (I chose the express postage) I think it's good value.
We are going on a 2 month holiday towing our camper trailer (1 week to go ), so will be interesting to see which setting is best for that !.

Hi Yoda,

Just wondering if your back yet & how the Jeep went with the Bluespark?

I was also wondering what you do when a service is due, do you remove the bluespark at service time & would it leave any trace for the dealer to see?

Cheers

We are still away :-), have done 6900km so far, averaging 13.3 L/100 towing our camper trailer (1.5+ Tonnes, jeep heavily load as well), it pulled well in the mountains, even accelerating up hill, I surprised some foke who tried to over take at speed limit increase signs going up hill (when the jeep and CT pulled away from them :-). ), we have had no problems or codes or lights thrown..
I do my own servicing, as my dealership has made to many stuff ups already !, and I won't put my family's life in their hands any more !!!!.
When it goes in for computer updates or warranty I just unplug and remove the Bluespark, only takes @ 10 min, had it in just before the trip for updates and they did not mention anything (Bluespark removed )

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Yoda, to get a true perspective on the improvement, you could try driving with the Bluespark plugged then un-plugged week about for a few weeks.

I could Bob !, but I don't need to!, I can feel the power and response difference (especially with the CT on! ), I have see half a liter to 1 liter per 100 improvement around town (before the trip no CT on ) depending on how I drive ;-)
At under $500 for their top model with express freight you can't go wrong !
I for one am a happy camper!

Thanks Yoda

It sounds like the way to go, I was just worried as a few times people were very keen about some sort of tune in this thread & then some had a bit of trouble & since I have not seen them posting anymore about their chips or tunes.
Yours though sounds like a good one & you are still as happy now as you were when you installed it which is always a good sign.
Mine is due soon for it's first service & I am worried also as I do not have much faith in the local dealer workshop however I do not have much choice as the closest Jeep Dealer apart from them is 200 K's away which I guess I could do every 6 months.
When you say you do your own services do you mean oil changes or are you a mechanic?
And does that not void the warranty?
I need to get the rear shocks checked at the service as they are a bit noisy & sound like they are loose on the mounts though I have read here that it is a common issue & they simply replace them.
Sorry I am off topic a tad
Ok thanks again & am Happy you are enjoying the tuner & I may just have to order myself one

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Bluespark is also great on mine with no lights, codes etc

Still checking out all the different power/torque options.

Some people talk about these tuning boxes dumping to much fuel but it cruises on the highway fully loaded at around 8lt per 100 ( lower sometimes) with transmission, engine tempratures operating as before.
I might get it on the dyno sometime to see how it is all going and refine the tunes a bit.
My shockies also have the rattle to be checked.

Unfortunately the dash fuel consumption readout is likely to be unreliable or rather, even more unreliable. In order to get the power boost, the tuning box tricks the ECU into delivering more fuel than it thinks it needs. The ECU thinks it has delivered less fuel. This is how some of the cheaper boxes are able to make such exorbitant efficiency claims. Nevertheless, there should still be fuel savings ableit not as large as claimed.

Hi Bob, the gains I have commented are calculated not evic, interestingly around town evic is pretty accurate (with Bluespark ), on the highway evic reads about half a liter less that actual

Angry Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I ordered a Bluespark online on 16th May , it was posted Royal Mail International Post to Australia on 23rd May , today is 11th June. ( 18 days total) & still no item!!! I have emailed Bluespark 3 times all they can give me is a Tracking number that works only on the Royal Mail website, it says item left Great Britain on 23rd May , bound for Australia. The tracking number does not work on Aust Post website. This is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! I dont know if any other customers have been jerked around re this but thought I would post my experience. I paid by Paypal so have lodged a dispute today. Hopefully I can get a full refund for the lost item but the inconvenience & uncertainty of buying these & being stuffed around, has dented my enthusiasm.....I have AGAIN emailed Bluespark with my anger & complaints but no response as yet.
