Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

See the para under "NEW UPDATE" Murchison Products - Performance . Stu is getting 596Nm out of a 3L CRD WH Grand. This is presumbly the merc engine. I hope he starts looking at the WK2 soon.

Bluespark shows a peak of 713Nm from the "new" motor.

Which is 13 Nm more than the new ZF 8 speed transmission is rated for (700 Nm max).

I think being 0.15% over the rating is ok....Lol! The CRD can't (or shouldn't) deliver 713Nm continuously anyways. That would require towing on the highest Bluespark setting....which IS NOT recommended. I doubt the EGTs would remain within safe limits. Always tow with a mild or stock tuning to keep the engine within its thermodynamic limits.

I tend to agree. I'm truly not concerned about it being slightly over as that is peak plus the little note that says "Tuning box performance figures are stated at the default settings, all diesel chihp are fully user adjustable (up & down) for power output."

So it appears you can adjust it down a notch or two if truly worried. I'm a bit concerned that they misspelled "chip" in that statement though.

Misspelling? I thought it was a new copyrighted term for their product...."chiHP"...with extra HP built in.

LOL!

No worries...its not a true chip anyways.

Ya, I found that on a Google search and it is a really good read. Especially the photo blurbs. Any updates on you guys running the Bluespark? I am thinking about ordering it for my 2014 Diesel before it even gets delivered.

One thing I am confused about is some areas of their website say they do not increase fuel pressure and strain on the fuel pump/system, but other areas make me wonder. Especially with the Pro+Boost model.

Most diesel injection systems have higher pressure and fuel delivery capacity than needed. Its there to atomize the fuel better. The injectors can deliver more fuel but might not pass emission standards. If that's a concern, you might want to leave it stock. I don't mind a little black smoke at wide open throttle. You may only notice it with certain light conditions. My Mercedes has a slight haze when I tromp it that is visible near sunset due to the low angle of sunlight.

The Aussie's might be able to confirm the reliability when tuned.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

No, I mean the VM A630 runs at a fuel pressure of 2,000 bar, or 29,000 PSI. If the chip increases that pressure, the fuel system components may wear quicker. It all depends on how much "buffer" VM Motori has put into the design overhead.

The VM Motoris we got in Oz between 2011-13 had a fuel pressure of 1,800bar with solenoid injectors. I guess there were no issues so as of MY14 they are going to 2,000bar with piezo injectors. It will interesting to see how that turns out.
