We estimate maybe 1-2 months for the tune protection definitions to be added to the local market, then its a free-for-all and whoever will have the best bosch definitions will make the best tunes.

Cheers

On a 6 month old 2014 model how does the tune protection get disabled ???

Does this mean tuning/flash via OBD ???

Cheers

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Have been doing some more googling !!!

Came across another type of multi channel tuning box, anyone used one of these . I know the Bluespark is multi channel but there is a 70 pound difference between the DTUK and Bluespark.

Jeep Diesel Tuning

Also came across this interesting device. A DPF emulator

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Hi to every one on here will have info on tune hopefully on Monday night the 28/4/14 have arranged with chris to have tune done Monday as a trail on the proviso I post my thoughts and fuel savings on here I drive a 2013 Grand Cherokee trailhawk with the 3.0 ltr and the five speed box and love it the only thing I would change other than the tune would be for the gearbox in the2014 model. I intend to go around Australia next year towing a 19 foot jayco caravan and this is the main reason for me to get the tune as want good power and torque while maintaining the best fuel results I can so real keen to see how chris goes with the tune I'll let you all know on Monday night my first impressions as I have to drive back to Northern Victoria to get home until then I'll bid you all goodnight and look forward to getting back to every one on Monday night.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Hi everyone been a bit busy but the trip to melb was a bit of a let down there were a few technical problems and they couldn't successfully get into the ECM not without taking a fifty fifty chance of success or frying the ECM and with at least a two or three week time frame of getting another from America I wasn't prepared to take the chance and not have the car they were going to have meet with someone else about it and get back to me but haven't done so yet.

Wanted to take away the "seat of the pants" test feeling etc.
no complaints so far probably use more fuel but hard to say as I also swapped to Hankook Dynapro AT tyres at the same time as fitting the chip.

Some more BlueSpark experiences

Some notes:
BlueSpark changed the unit design probably a little over a year ago. I spent a little bit of time trying to understand the settings, to see really on five jumpers (ABCDE) and an adjustable dial with numbers.

Bluespark default is B5

More power is noticeable. Less lag. It is very subtle. Was happy . . . .

Been playing around, after trial and error, settled on C7

2000 K so far

Alot more power.
Easiest way to describe is
stock - massive ooomph between 1500 and 3000 RPM, then falls off a cliff
C7- same massive oomph, but oomph is longer, drop of now close to 4000 RPM
power transition is smoother

If you are rolling at 15km and in second and floor it (in the dry) traction control will blink blink blink away

Driveability is smoother (coupled with turning off the stupid hill start assist)

Fuel consumption

Stock (averages over 2000 klms, worked out from actual fuel in rather then EVIC) (EVIC seems to be on the money for City but reads higher then actual on freeway)
City - 8.4 (approx 1/3 60 km suburbia, 1/3 westgate car park (freeway), 1/3 CBD)
Freeway only 7.8
Towing (1.3 tonne boat) - 12.3

Towing occurred on the same roads - highway and very hilly sections

C7

City 7.9
Freeway 7.5
Towing 10.4

Yes, towing is 10.4!!!!

The product really works

OBD2 data via Android Torque (logging)

Been logging the data before and after

The interesting values, based on top 10% analysis of values (it is clear to see where the throttle is opened)

EGT averages at wide open are 50 degress celcius more then stock
EGT at light throttle is same

Boost is 10% higher with anything more then light throttle (this is consistent)

Fuel rate at heavy throttle is 15% higher on average, but very very slightly lower elsewhere

Again, this not just about power. It is about driveability.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Thanks for the report, product seems to be working well. Although I'm still waiting for the direct ECU mapping to be full proof.

I understood from reading the thread a number of VM equipped cars have had the ECU re-mapped. If this was the case this issue should have been resolved.

Strange..
