Wanted to take away the "seat of the pants" test feeling etc.
no complaints so far probably use more fuel but hard to say as I also swapped to Hankook Dynapro AT tyres at the same time as fitting the chip.
Some more BlueSpark experiences
BlueSpark changed the unit design probably a little over a year ago. I spent a little bit of time trying to understand the settings, to see really on five jumpers (ABCDE) and an adjustable dial with numbers.
Bluespark default is B5
More power is noticeable. Less lag. It is very subtle. Was happy . . . .
Been playing around, after trial and error, settled on C7
2000 K so far
Alot more power.
Easiest way to describe is
stock - massive ooomph between 1500 and 3000 RPM, then falls off a cliff
C7- same massive oomph, but oomph is longer, drop of now close to 4000 RPM
power transition is smoother
If you are rolling at 15km and in second and floor it (in the dry) traction control will blink blink blink away
Driveability is smoother (coupled with turning off the stupid hill start assist)
Stock (averages over 2000 klms, worked out from actual fuel in rather then EVIC) (EVIC seems to be on the money for City but reads higher then actual on freeway)
City - 8.4 (approx 1/3 60 km suburbia, 1/3 westgate car park (freeway), 1/3 CBD)
Freeway only 7.8
Towing (1.3 tonne boat) - 12.3
Towing occurred on the same roads - highway and very hilly sections
Yes, towing is 10.4!!!!
The product really works
OBD2 data via Android Torque (logging)
Been logging the data before and after
The interesting values, based on top 10% analysis of values (it is clear to see where the throttle is opened)
EGT averages at wide open are 50 degress celcius more then stock
EGT at light throttle is same
Boost is 10% higher with anything more then light throttle (this is consistent)
Fuel rate at heavy throttle is 15% higher on average, but very very slightly lower elsewhere
Again, this not just about power. It is about driveability.
