Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Looks like they just trouser the VAT. I couldn't be bothered reading the links, but all I know ids that everything I've bought from the EU is VAT free. From their website:

Deliveries to non-EU countries are subjected to additional duties, taxes and fees. For more information on tariffs, see for example

European Commission
and the import turnover tax at

EZT-Online
and especially for Switzerland at

Tares - Schweizerischer Gebrauchstarif

I've placed my order even though I think they are making 20% extra on us Aussies. I will post a review once it arrives.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Have you noticed improvements in fuel economy?

I also note with these you really should monitor EGR temperatures..

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

If you send your order to RaceChip via email they will remove the VAT. Ordered mine on Friday 237 euro for the RaceChip Pro including delivery.

They actually had a special on last month for their Facebook followers of 239 euro for the Ultimate (half price). For anyone not in a hurry it could be worth following them on Facebook and waiting for another special to come up.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Did an install on a mates WK2 today, so thought I would add some notes.
The package comes with a chip, a testing Yellow LED adapter, wire loom utilex clips and an installation guide.

For a start, you cannot do it in 5 mins. Unless you have baby hands. Allow about 30mins, which is mainly down to the difficulty of getting the factory plug unclipped from the fuel rail. It is right at the back of the motor, and has very little room to get to it.

Step 1: Remove the engine cover. It is just clipped on, so lift the front up, then the back. It sits on 4 pins.

Step 2: Locate the fuel rail plug. It sits at the back of the motor, about 50mm below the top and to the right. You will see a yellow clip on the side of it. There is a bigger plug above it, and you may find it easier to access the fuel rail plug if you remove the one above first. It sits on 2 pins, so just pull it upwards.

Step 3: Now that you can see the fuel rail plug, with a screwdriver, push the yellow clip on the side, towards the firewall. Then reach in, and remove it completely. This will allow you better access to remove the plug.

Step 4: With a flatblade screwdriver, press on the side of the plug, releasing the catch, while you pull the plug backwards towards the firewall.

That is the hardest part now done.

Step 5: Using the Y Connector Lead from the package, insert 1 end into the Fuel Rail. Make sure it clicks in. The yellow clip you removed will not fit this plug, as it is a different fitting. Keep it safe for later when you need to remove the chip and revert to the original setup

Step 6: Fit the plug you removed to the other end of the Y Connector.

Step 7: Do not fit the chip, but leave the yellow LED connector attached.

Step 8: Turn the ignition to "ON" but do not start the car. The Yellow LED should light up. If not, you have a problem, so check your connections. If it does, then turn off the ignition. When the Yellow LED has died, Remove it and replace it with the Chip.

Step 9: Start the engine. The car I worked on ran rough for a few seconds, then idled normally.

Step 10. Tie down the chip, and replace the engine cover.

ALL DONE. You should notice a noticable change in the engine performance.

Thanks Allypally

Great write up. Do you think it will be easier to remove before a service or around the same?

Hey Dougie

How did you find out about the email ordering? Too late for me now, but I might email them and see if they'll refund the VAT on my order.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

The hardest part of the hole project is getting to the plug on the fuel rail.
Once you have done it once, I gu8ess it would be a 10min process to remove

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Any feedback from your Mate gauging a remarkable improvment in power/torque or otherwise. Did he/she mention that the result was marginally noticable or a HUGE improvement?

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Does the mate intend removing this at each service? Interested if OBDII throws any codes.

I have a reader and I'm tempted although would be interested in what increased temperatures and pressure this is producing..

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

The Mate mentioned that there was an immediate noticable improvement in performance.
The Mate said he would remove it when going for a service
