Another local tuner who uses Viezu advised that an aftermarket, "High Flow" DPF was in R&D.
Have I misunderstood?
Either way, I figure 772Nm, if that's what is acheived, is more than enough. For now.....
No doesnt include a high flow dpf , if the HPX doesnt come soon I am going to get a custom 3inch. Yes it does have a improvement about 8kw with NO mufflers I think.

Cheers

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Don't forget....there is the DPF and the CAT and mufflers after the turbo. The best we'll see is a CAT back with no mufflers. Any good muffler shop can fab a 3 inch to duals catback in a few hours.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I spoke to HPX regarding the exhaust today the jigs are done and they are clearing their current EOFY backlog and will start hopefully first week in July.

Agreed! I can't see a cat-back doing much after a turbo, cat and DPF.

There's a thread on here where a '14 Diesel owner bought a catback system and even did a muffler delete. He didn't even get the sound he wanted, was still quiet. He said there was no performance gain either.

Here's something for the unbelievers to try. Hook your water hose up and turn the faucet to barely flowing. Now go do anything you want to the other end of the hose to make it flow faster...it won't. No type of nozzle or gizmo will help. Even a larger diameter hose won't help. The upstream restriction, being significantly greater, dictates the maximum flow with little to gain by modifying downstream equipment.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Yes I agree with you both and do not dispute what you are saying to a extent, I am planning on getting a before and after dyno, if I get around 8 -12 kw I will be happy, so we will see, anything over 8kw will be a bonus and if it sounds even slightly better than whats on there I will be happy as well.

The ones in the states are 2.5 inch, the HPX is a 3inch all the way thru and also gets joined after the crush point so that is gone as well, and who knows hopefully a high flow DPF is on the cards and I will already have the exhaust.

If it works great if it doesnt so be it and no one else will by one.

Keep you posted.

I hope it works but be aware you may get negative results particularly loss of torque at the lower end. Any benefits will likely be apparent only at WOT. Going from 2.5" to 3" increases the volume of air to push out by 40% and reduces exhaust velocities by 40%. Exhaust velocities are necessary for proper scavenging but I don't think that scavenging is much of an issue with this already highly constricted exhaust. You'll get way more power and torque with a tuning chip alone.

LOL, to my way of thinking, the only 'high flow DPF" is a gutted one, or is high flow DPF code for 'dump pipe'?

Looking forward to your reports on the new exhaust.

Agreed, and the only way to supply this is a bigger turbo or more boost (i.e. ECU tune).

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I don't know that a larger exhaust kills low end torque in turbo diesels. I doubt there is significant exhaust port scavenging since the turbo creates a greater restriction than anything else downstream...except maybe a clogged dpf!

Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Is the 3.0l CRD in the jeep commander a VM engine like ours? Taipan make a 3" exhaust for it, which includes a 3" replacement DPF, it would be interesting to see if there were any gains with that setup. There's a dyno report on their website for it but the link doesn't work.
