So from here I'm considering 3 inch exhaust with 3 inch DPF custom CAI with external pick up behind front grill and larger intercooler for more efficient cooling of air.
First I've heard of the larger intercooler mod. That sounds the most promising other than the bluespark.

Will be all custom just waiting on some advice back from performance shop on exhaust and then probably do it all at once. Bigger intercooler made a massive difference on my 33GTR. Would love to play with boost but not while it's under warranty. Will take photos once it's done.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

How's changer the intercooler not playing with the boost? The result is more power unless I'm missing something. I would suspect Chrysler would void your warranty if it goes into the shop with an aftermarket intercooler?

What I meant was not increasing the boost via a external boost controller.

Which seemed perfectly clear to me, and I'm just a casual observer.

An intercooler simply cools the intake air, so I'm wondering what type of failure could be attributed to that as the grounds to avoid warranty. Entry of a foreign object from manufacturing would be the only one with any legs in my opinion.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I'm actually all about a better intercooler...lower EGTs, better efficiency, more power. All good things. If it doesn't void the warranty, great. I was just pointing out that "power adders" typically are grounds for denied warranty work if mods are related to the failure. Anyone that mods a motor should be prepared, in a worst case scenario, to provide their own warranty. As an example, if the Bosch CP4.2 grenades, the repair is typically $6k or more!

That being said, I'm all for tuning and modding the 3.0 if one can afford it!

All I can think of is that with the 5 or so radiators pancaked as they are, a larger intercooler might reduce the efficiency of the others. I don't think it would be an issue since the fan would just work harder but the dealers will nit pick anything to void the warranty.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Well its official the HPX exhaust that was supposed to be ready in the first 2 weeks of July is now still under development and is at least 3 months away.

After being led down the garden path for the last 3 months, they ain't getting my business at all and will now start the ball rolling on a custom 3 inch.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

That's a bummer Chocco. I don't know why manufacturers string potential customers along with vapourware bullsh!t when they surely know there is not a chance the product will be developed in the time frame stated... or at all.

I've got to say, I experience it and hear of it more with this platform than any other 4WD I have owned. It must be something in the water...

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

My car was used for development for the HPX exhaust when I worked there. It definitely increased throttle response but was very quite, its my thought that pretty much any exhaust you put on these cars, even ones without mufflers, are going to be quiet.

The company I work at offers custom ECU reprogramming on the dyno for the WK2, this costs $1195 inc tax. More information can be found here -> Jeep Common Rail Diesel « Horsepower Factory

Chocco check out the custom exhaust that Stewart Murchison has on his Murchison Products FB page. It's custom hand tigged for about $2,100 i think, but don't quote me.
