Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Yeah, understood. That's what I mean with "in the context of tuning"... ie: just the software / electronics side. Obviously there's not so much point coding it out, but leaving it in.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

very interested in the HP factory or celtic tune results for us Aussies.

Would love to see some before and after dyno results also - one off results dont mean much with out a base line (my rx6 turbo can dyno any where from 390 - 480 rwkw depending on the dyno and operator)

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

The great thing about HP increases through ECU tuning is that a before and after dyno run should be possible within hours of one another. This is how I'd be wanting to see the figures tabled if I was in the market.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

WK2 CRD-Flash tune result - No Chips to be seen!

Here is the result of having my car's ECU reprogrammed on my 3.0ltr CRD WK2.

The increase in percentages are 20% more power and 23% more torque which, when you do the rough math makes for 213kw & 677nm...

The car feels amazing and smashes all previous chips I have fitted and tried.

Even the transmission feels better even though transmission alterations are not currently available.

The resulting economy is still yet to be established but even cruising around in it I'm hardly even touching the throttle yet the car seems to not care about hills and the little instant fuel bar is hovering around 6lt... More info to follow.

Below is the before and after

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

How do you deal with the gearbox being rated to a max input of 580 N-m now outputting 677 N-m?

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Hi Snuke,

That gearbox is the same gearbox that is in the SRT8 with 640nm. Additionally Chrylser has been using that trans in the 300c 5.7 and 6.1's since 2005 where I personally have had plenty enough experience with them in highly modified cars (way more than the rated torque capacity) to be confident the transmission will live a long healthy life.

I appreciate the link update.

The 2010-2013 used a 5 speed Mercedes transmission. The MY14 onward's cars are 8 speed.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

It’s odd, in one reference it is the W5A580 which is what the 580 N-m max reference comes to, however, as the MB 5G-Tronic, it has a rating of 1080 N-m max. A slight difference.

It is. The ZF-8HP70 is rated at 700Nm max Torque. I believe the SRT uses the ZF-HP90 rated at 900Nm which is why he has lots of experience with no problems in it.
Realistic, the 8HP70 should be ok with over 700Nm provided you aren't racing it or consistently flooring it in low gears.

Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

The SRT also uses the HP70, the HP90 is rumored to be under testing with the Hellcat.

These max torque ratings are for input not output at the wheels.
