Think I just talked myself out of it.
AFAIK, no one has yet reported a blown engine or broken box that can be directly attributed to a tuning box. The CRD seems to be quite a robust unit. Most problems are peripheral.

Yeah Snuke I worked for Subaru at the time and was well aware of the 'gentlemans agreement' some of the Japanese manufacturers had. Previous to the STI, I owned a Nissan R33 GTR Vspec which was also around 208kw.

Now that I have the boy racer car fetish out of my system, I am more than wrapped with my Jeep grand cherokee. The fact that I chipped my Jeep still indicates their may still be a bit of the young boy in me. :-)

If my memory serves me correctly (and sometimes it doesn't...lol)
Peter.T on here has set up the LinearTorq company to import and sell these re-badged Bluespark units.

I may be wrong though....

Well there you go, looks like your memory is still decent Matt.
Actually, he said distribution, which would imply the same brand, so maybe not, also the pricing comment doesn't add up to LinearTorq's pricing.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I'm still undecided about this.
I really want to tune it as I had great results with my old Territory turbo.
My confusion lies between using an interceptor type tuning box (Bluespark, LinearTorq etc.) or going for a proper ECU retune, such as this.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

As Lineartorq website is now, I couldn't buy from it as there is no contact number, no ABN, no address, the website has a hidden Whois (as it should), so I feel there is no security in the purchase. Their checkout is via PayPal though. The price being double UK doesn't help especially with all the feeling of local security not being their. Peter, if it is your website, sorry it feels harsh, just some critical feedback.

I know nothing, so take with the huge ignorance I have in this field, one thing I like about the tuning box is that it is basically plug and play. No need to take car or send ECU to get reprogrammed and no hassles when it comes to service and possibly having it flashed. From the little I have read, ECU reprogramming is supposed to offer bette results though.

I would say that you should also consider the tuner you are going to use (if going the ecu route).

Definately..............and this is why I have pointed out these guys.
Trailhawk on here works there and has done his MY13 Trailhawk and their CV with other performance tuning speaks for itself, although I haven't personally used them before.

Peter.T on here has set up the LinearTorq company

Hi Snuke,

Yes you are correct I am associated with Lineartorq.

We are having the tuning modules manufactured in Europe and have set up a company to distribute and service here. Our website was launched recently and thanks for the feedback on what further info you think we should publish.

As you may or may not be aware, there is a very strict criteria one must adhere to if wanting to use Paypal as selling medium. You can rest assured that we have qualified on all headings and of course this gives both buyer and seller a wide range of protection.

Our IT guru has decided to have a holiday and so you won't see a phone number or other contact details for a week or so.

I had decided not to advertise my involvement with Lineartorq on this forum as I considered it a conflict of interest but you have made that impossible now.

We are negotiating with fitters around the country and of course our pricing reflects margins and fitting costs as well as a minefield of costs in warranties and 30 day money back returns etc.

Of interest is that one of the most popular "Chips" (I hate that word) available and extensively advertised in Australia retails in Europe for around $300 and sells in Australia starting at $1495!

Our agreement with our manufacturer is tight and we are bound by commercial confidences.
Now that it is out there officially so to speak, I am happy to offer JG paid up members attractive pricing if anyone is interested. PM me if I can help.

We are happy to fit units on The Sunshine Coast if required and hopefully will be able to arrange fitting in other States soon.

Pete.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I believe that GDE are bringing out a tune for the WK2 in the next few months. They have been working on it for a while now.
GDE have been around for a long time and are well and truly tried & tested.
Had one on my 2007 WH/WK .......no problems.

Cheers, Craig
