Unfortunately the settings where I am happiest seem to constantly trip the Electronic Throttle Control warning. I have had to dial it back about 4 settings to stop the light coming on. Fuel consumption is at 9.4L with half town driving and half longer runs.

Overall I am still undecided on whether it has been a worthwhile exercise. When I get time I will disconnect it completely to remind myself of how it drives without the chip so I get a fresh comparison.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Sorry for bumping this one again, but I'm getting a bit weary of the gear change when I boot it. Plant my foot when moving say around 50km/h, wait a second or two, just as you feel the torque coming in, it drops a gear, revs out and runs out of steam soooo quickly before shifting down where you get the real grunt. Does the racechip eliminate any of a)the lag and b) the constant up shift? I get the feeling it has a major improvement on the fuel management side of things but wonder if it has a secondary positive impact on the above?

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I havent really noticed any lag. However, I think the jury is still out on the best settings for the racechip.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I believe all users of Racechip are overall happy. However, I believe once the settings have been properly refined and tested by aussies, it will be even better. At the moment, there have been a few issues with fuel errors showing on the EVIC, probably because the settings have been set too high. Once that is sorted, and a nice balance found, all will be good.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Have finally settled on setting 3/2 with the RCP and am quite happy. Gives it a bit more oomph when starting off and eliminates the feeling of lag. I did like setting 4/2 which gives it even more oomph but it would trip the Electronic Throttle Control warning light if I floored it to overtake etc. I still can't comment of fuel efficiency because the type of driving I have been doing has been a bit inconsistant lately. Last tank of diesel was the best yet though with around 870k's.

I guess it depends on what you are expecting out of it. For me the lag and lack of go when starting off in 1st gear was driving me crazy, to the point where I was ready to sell the car. On the current setting the chip has pretty much eliminated it and the car accelerates more like a petrol, so for me the chip was worth it as it saved me the loss I would have copped by selling the car.

If you are buying the chip expecting big fuel savings I would say save your money, I still can't see any significant change, maybe a slight improvement.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Hey Douggie,
Just to confirm, you're saying from standing start no lag and a sudden unleashing of power, much better than the standard lag and unleashing of power? No lag planting your foot when moving say around 60kmh? It's a toss up between chrome steps or a chip from Father Xmas. Cheers Mate.

Re: Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

I did Bob. That was an outstanding thread and a good warning to all. Mine will only ever see light 4wd use. More of a tow vehicle than anything and whilst I like the bling of the steps, the chip is highly tempting. Would be good if one of the CRD owners could put up a youtube of the acceleration from standing start and from a rolling start, just to see how much lag is eliminated. Any takers?
