Re: Anyone with Exhaust Filter problems

The last time I checked BP Ultimate Diesel was brave enough to claim sulphur content at 5ppm. Others claimed 8 or ≤10ppm. But it's not just the carbon. Carbon is supposed to burn up in the DPF but ash can't burn. Ash just builds up. That is why it is so important to use low ash oil and avoid oil or fuel additives even those claiming to be DPF freindly.

Re: Anyone with Exhaust Filter problems

Does Jeep Australia actually make a recommendation regarding Diesel ? For example is just plain old Ultra low sulphur Diesel (normal Diesel in Aus) or would a Premium Diesel like Vortex or Ultimate be preferable?
Ultimate claims less than 0.001 typical ash content up to Max if 0.01 %

I wonder whether the additives included in Diesel fuels which claim to remove buildup of 'deposits' and clean the engine might be contributing to DPF filling up. Your engine will be clean but your DPF will be full of whatever was 'cleaned' out of the engine.

Re: Anyone with Exhaust Filter problems

I have been using Vortex since day one, with a minor top up of BP once. 9 months later and there has been no DPF related issues.

Re: Anyone with Exhaust Filter problems

So by now you know the problem is a computer issue not the diesel fuel or exhaust system blocking. Software 19 Dec 2014.

Good point! I guess time will tell if this is an issue. In the mean time I'm still sticking with premium. A servo manager I spoke to said that his premium diesel pumps were not yet operative because they hadn't put the additional line filters in the premium pumps yet. This would lead me to believe they take extra care with premiuim. It was a BP servo BTW.

No, but whatever you chose, an idiot mechanic will say it was the wrong one.

Yes it's like, "My dad always used truck diesel back on the farm and never had a problem"

Re: Anyone with Exhaust Filter problems

Have a 2014 grand cherokee limited diesel, have had this problem twice once at about 12000km and again at 16000.
Jeep put out a computer fix on about 29/12/14 have had no problem since, keeping my fingers crossed .
