Re: Autocar's blah review of the GC CRD

Funny how all the cars it was tested agaist cost much more. they should have compared it witht he top spec Jeep vs the rest. I am sure it would be more on par in price and better in performance, as it would have the QL and other gizmos.
I am also Biased as I have a CRD Overland.

It's also funny that they say it lacks off road ability as compared to the rest but they tested a stripped down model.

Re: Autocar's blah review of the GC CRD

For the rest read only the Discovery as none of the others are any good off road (Touareg, Benz, BMW, Audi). Most don't even have a useable spare tyre, a big issue here in Australia.

Re: Autocar's blah review of the GC CRD

Yep, I love the fact I have a real wheel and not some can of false hope in the boot when I am stuck 100km from home with a blowen tyre.

Re: Autocar's blah review of the GC CRD

Mind you Jeep has created another problem with the location of the spare - how do you get to it if you instal a fridge slide and drawers.

Unfortunately although there looks to be enough room to put a spare underneath this is stuffed up once you fit a towbar. More thought required.

Nice to know the CRD might be coming back! I definitely would consider the new grand if that engine comes out.

Re: Autocar's blah review of the GC CRD

I can tell you it is one very sweet motor. Revs well and heaps of power. I can get some wheel slip when booting it before the computer kicks in a spoils the fun.

Re: Autocar's blah review of the GC CRD

Why were they racing non-SRT8's is the question.. I think that the people who would be buying such a car(Jeep Grand Cherokee '11) aren't really going to be on the track as much or even at such speeds..

I'm still puzzled on how they thought the interior was awful.. but meh.
