The diesel does have a glow plug setup for starting. It does not need it here in Australia, as it never really gets cold enough. The minimum temp we would get in the snowfields would be around -12C
Allypally, the problem they have in that arctic wilderness they call Canada
is gelling of diesel fuel in extreme cold. They have to use "winterized" diesel. Even in Australia, I've seen diesels stuck in the Perisher car park during a sudden cold snap because of course we don't have winterized diesel. Some diesels shipped to cold countries are fitted with fuel filter heaters. Perhaps the Canadians will get that.
