This is off jeep Australia web site

0 to 100kms (0 to 60mph)
3.6: 9.1 sec
5.7: 8.7 Sec
3.0: 8.2 Sec
Jeep Australia is wrong then.

go on youtube and watch the 0-60 vids and count the seconds. Hemi is around 6-7 and CRD is 8-9. I know for a fact that my 2011 hemi JGC is a lot faster than 8.7 to 60 mph.

A diesel feels faster because of low rpm torque. No knocking them, that's just the way it is. I wish manufacturers in the US could make it worthwile to buy a diesel, I would buy one.

Re: Diesel Cherokee Noise levels....?

The Jeep GC CRD has one big flaw: the gearbox. it is not bad, it's just the wrong one.
it's an old 5-speed, which revs at 2500rpm at 70mph.
compare that to the 1750 rpm of a touareg diesel with the 8-speed, and Jeep may realize that they have misjudged this one.

For me the rpm after several test-drives were a deal breaker. now looking for a petrol version that i can convert to liquid gas (LPG)

The CRD version they're allegedly going to release for US market for 2013 will supposedly have the ZF 8-speed (as is the base Pentastar), so I would think the exported ones would get it too. Here's hoping anyway...

Re: Diesel Cherokee Noise levels....?

My 2003 crd JGC has 300k km on it and has not got louder. No diesel rattles.
I have heard the new f250 here and they are noisy old style diesels.

Agree with 77redneck those 0 to 60 times are wrong.
I am getting low 7s from standing with no gas on, just hitting it. That's using the scan tool to do the timing. Starts recording as soon as the wheels start turning then you can bring up any speed and see what time it took.
Faster if you hold the gas on and release the brake.

Re: Diesel Cherokee Noise levels....?

Hi there
The diesel is very quite. The only time you realize its a diesel is when it first starts and within a few seconds it is no more noisey than a petrol. If you lent the vehicle to someone without a great deal of experience they would not know.
