Re: ENFORCER'S Oil Change Guide for a 2011 VM Motori CRD

Thanks Enforcer for the informative guide. Is this covered in the Jeep hand book?
I have always changed oil and filter between dealer service intervals on my old 2000 model VT Series II Belina and it has done over 300k and still going strong. The dealer and mechanics are amazed at how good this car is and it still looks like a new car and drives exceptionally well. The GM dealer keeps asking me when I am going to update it. He doesn't know about the JGC !
Yours is a 2011 model with recovery hooks, can these be retrofitted to the 2012 model?
Have you had any / many warranty issues to date? I am reading different forum posts that make me wonder if I have chosen well. They drive so well I hope they last as long as my VT, and that it arrives at the dealer when I get home from Iraq September.

Thanks again
McGivor

Re: ENFORCER'S Oil Change Guide for a 2011 VM Motori CRD

Hi mate, the towhooks for the 2012 are fitted by the dealer. If you bitch at them about not being told, you may get them free.
The oil change guide isnot mentioend int he handbook. It is always rewarding to work on your own car and you will find out the oil changes are no different to a Commonwhore.
As for faults, you will always read bad stories on forums, as people find places like this when they have a problem. Do not worry, they are generally good vehicles, you just need to find a decent dealer....that is the problem.
Come over to the Export section, where all the Aussies hang out: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f190/

P.S Keep your head down

Re: ENFORCER'S Oil Change Guide for a 2011 VM Motori CRD

Hi Guys ,

I finally completed a 5000k oil change on the wifes 2012 GC diesel.

An easy job turned sour when I stripped the damn sump plug (over tightend from factory ) the 8mm allen key type plug is a pos and should be thrown over the fence at the first opportunity.

After waiting 3 weeks for a new sump plug to arrive I was pleasantly suprised to see that the new type is a 22mm 6 point std plug ( Pno. 68040680AA ), much better than the original.

After a bit of cursing I managed to get the original plug out with a T50 torx tip and a breaker bar, a drill and easy out was the next option.

The intake piping clamp screws are 8mm ,and the intercooler pipe
clamps are 7mm ( some I found loose )

A big thanks to Enforcer for going to the trouble of producing a
How to Guide on the oil change proceedure .

Just beware that damn original plug !

Cheers

Phil

Re: ENFORCER'S Oil Change Guide for a 2011 VM Motori CRD

The inside of the Hex just twisted it was that tight.
I need to go to a garage, and they will attempt to cut it out.
I have ordered a new plug.

AllyPally, just thought, it's not a LH thread by any chance? Same issue got me on another car a long time ago.

Re: ENFORCER'S Oil Change Guide for a 2011 VM Motori CRD

Got the new sump plug today. It is completely different, and soooo expensive for what I would call a "short bolt" Dealer charged $30.
I will take some photos of both next weekend.
I will also try to get the specifications of the new design. Perhaps an aftermarket plug will suit, at a fraction of the price.

Re: ENFORCER'S Oil Change Guide for a 2011 VM Motori CRD

Allypally,

Try to get it out by gently tapping a t50 torx tip into the stripped plug,
it worked a treat on my plug. At least give it a try as you will get stung $$$ by a mechanic .

For some reason they are over tightend from the factory, my plug required a 12 inch breaker bar to get the sucker out .

The new 22mm sump plug will be the best $30 you have ever spent.

Good luck with it.

It might be an idea to spread the word to get the first oil change done by the dealer.

I have photos of both plugs, as well as Part numbers. I will download Enforcer's oil guide update it, and send it to him for uploading.
