Keep in mind, it's not just in the AU, but pretty much everywhere.
I have a 2011 GC , have done 48,000 klm, love the car, two previous vehicles had foot operated park brake and I think I prefer it over hand brake lever in console.

Re: Foot Parking Brake

Ummm....there seems to be a bit of confusion here with the location of the foot operated parking/ebrake. AFAIK both LHD and RHD vehicles have the pedals in the same positional relationship to each other, ie; from left to right, ebrake, brake pedal then accelerator pedal.

On LHD the ebrake is against the kick panel, on RHD it's against the trans tunnel.
It can only be operated with the left foot (unless you're really flexible...lol)

And there in lies the problem, the foot brake concept is great, but at you noted it is beside the tunnel and closer to the brake pedal, if only they could lift it a little, it would then clear your shin bone. Nissan have managed to do it, why not Chrysler?

I am going to look at a modification on my GC when it arrives at the end of July.

Re: Foot Parking Brake

There is no doubt that the parking brake was an after thought on the RHD WK2's.... Fine on the LHD but it a truly dumb position on the RHD's.

Any front impact risks snapping your left tibia/fibia.

It's my only gripe with the vehicle...

Re: Foot Parking Brake

All new luxury cars have electric parking brake (automatic or by switch)
Hope for 2016/2017 also Jeep will have.
The existing pedal is due to Mercedes project, but is really into bad/wrong position for me.

Thanks for that, sad thing is that the park brake could be re engineered to fit better, I was hoping that they would do this in the revamped model, or maybe Jeep just don't care.

In the owners manual of my new GC Limited it refers to an electric parking brake ( if fitted)
Interesting that hey..

I just don't get how you can say its not in a good position for a RHD vehicle.
It's in the same position relative to your feet whether the car is LHD or RHD.

Just from the photos
The LHD vehicle has a hole lot more room from h park brake to he foot brake peddle
The RHD version is so close there is no way your left foot leg can fi between the foot and park brake.
