Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

Just for those interested:

I do i lot of highway Kms.

I get 7.4l/100kms

highway 100 -110km/hr with not many hills

I only cracked below the 8l/100km after about 6000km on the clock

The consumption has slowing got better and better.

Mixed driving a still get 9- 10L /100km.

Cheers

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

Our GC is rivalling our Audi TT for fuel economy in suburban traffic. In our usual cycle of suburban driving, they are both returning nearly identical figures around the 10L/100km. Out on the freeway, the TT beats it but only just. The TT is around 6L/100km, but the GC is around 8L/100km. The GC has 880km on the clock, the TT has 62500km.

The interesting thing is both our GC and TT are more economical in the real world (as opposed to the factory quoted world) than my in-laws Mazda 3 (2800km) that we had use of for a month. That was giving 12L/100km average in day to day driving.

I really can't imagine how 10/100km is possible... Unless you are driving 50-60 km/h with no hard acceleration at all...

Nope ... I'm a lead foot ... I'm absolutely stunned how economical ours is.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

We average 9.8 - 10, mostly suburban usage, school runs, sports, shopping etc.

We use BP Ultimate. When we used the normal BP diesel for two tanks in a row, the fuel economy shot up to the mid 11s.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

Ours is now locked on a consistent 14l/100km as most runs are under 3km. My wife is an on/off the throttle driver so this is why the economy is worse than I would expect. The car would also not get above 60km/h most of the time due to the short runs in suburban streets.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

Put another 250kms on it yesterday. After a spirited chase through the Hinterland, and now with 1800kms on the clock I am down to 9.4 and dropping. This thing gets better and better!!

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

I've only put $50 worth of Caltex Vortex Diesel in it since we bought it. Though I am looking forward to when BP Ultimate Diesel is available in Sydney ... if it ever gets here.
