We were getting up to 14s around town earlier ( up to 10,000) now around 12's at 15,000 km.but it gets back into the 9's on average after a long trip so we get 8's during the trip. I imagine the chip would have something to do with your consumption?

I don't have a chip, trying to drive more or less reasonably...
Depending on gas station I'm getting 13.5, 14 or even 14.5l

Over the first 6 month period of my new car I began at 14's and slowly dropped to low 13's doing inner start stop suburbs of Sydney. A run or two to the outer suburbs would see a significant drop and a run or two on a freeway to Wollongong, Newcastle or similar would see an immense drop into the 9's.

I've just recently replaced the vehicle and in these 3 weeks of solely inner start stop suburbs of Sydney I am sitting on 12.9 - 13.1. I rarely if ever got this low in the previous vehicle!

So it seems like each vehicle is different. Though maybe just maybe... I was heavier footed when I "initially" found myself behind the wheel of the first car... and feeling 20 years younger needing to use that get up and go power.

Also try resetting it before a trip/s to give a more accurate reading. Remember it is an average of "all" fuel usage and kilometres driven since it was last reset.

ie. if you've done a considerable period of driving with an average of 14 and hop on a freeway averaging 9 for ... your average displayed will still show high 13's

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

I went to change tires for winter and I've met the salesman who sold me my car at the dealership and ask him about fuel consumption in their test drive cars.
He told me that they are getting 11 - 11.5 l/100km...
When I told him that I'm rather close to 14l he seemed surprised and ask guys in the garage to check this out. They've looked into computer data but found nothing unusual...
Now I'm trying to drive very reasonably and the best result I'm getting is 13.3...

If you reset the EVIC and observe it as you drive, does the moving bar stay consistently over the 10 hence your 14L? If so, that doesn't sound right. I watched mine and although it will stray beyond 10 on a hill or setting off from stationary, most of the time it sits slightly below the 10 mark. 14L is what I would expect from the 3.6 petrol.

Hi Bilex

What is the quality of diesel like in Poland and do you have a choice for premium diesel? If so you may want try a couple of tanks of that and see how you go.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

It depends on the type of traffic you encounter. If I take it to work and back, which is about 40-50kms round trip in traffic, it will average around 11-11.5 l/100km. If my wife takes it to work which is only 3-4kms round trip, average rises to high 12's.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

I really can't wait for the 2014 GC diesel to come out in the US. The more I drive the Porsche Cayenne diesel I bought for my wife a few months ago, the more I want an SUV with the same diesel power delivery and fuel economy, but with real off road capability. The fuel economy of the Cayenne diesel is outstanding as you can see from the attached picture from the trip when I drove from Baltimore to Annapolis on Christmas day (converted it is 6.35l/100km). I was fairly light on the throttle most of the way, but hit 100 mph a few times on the highway on the way there. I imagine the GC diesel will get similar fuel economy if it also gets an 8 speed...maybe 1 mpg less EPA due to weight and drag.

I sure hope these numbers work out. We just completed a 750 mile road trip averaging just shy of.....17mpg. In our v6. Ugh.

BTW - your sig says you own a Cayenee.

Thanks, fixed the typo in the sig.

I have yet to go on a road trip that far in the Cayenne, but as long as it was highway miles 750 miles would be easily handled on one tank of diesel (26.4 gal). I love not having to fill up very often. I want all my vehicles to be like this.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

Recently towed a 2.5T caravan, and returned an average 11.5 Ltrs/100Klms.
That is excellent in anyone's language.
