Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

My overland has 5000 km on the clock.

Fuel consumption as follows:

Highway : 8.4 l/100km
Urban: 10.7 l/100km

Very happy with this!

Over short trips conditions can change consumption dramatically......
Our van goes 2150kg loaded and towing with our previous auto 3l Nissan Patrol it averaged 16.7l/100k over a total close to 120,000km. I was pretty happy with that. At times though bad days with hilly country or head winds could see consumption get to 20l/100km, flat ground with a tail wind could return 13/100km.
Our 2012 Laredo CRD has clocked 14000k with the same van and the average for this vehicle is 12.8l/100k with the van connected.
With the same driver and the same loadings there is a considerable difference - The Jeep is a pleasure to drive and tow with - usually cruising at 95 to 100kph depending on where we are.
Round town it does mid 9's without the van on.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

Our Overland CRD has now done 2300klm, with our 2 tonne van on we get around 12.5lt/100klm , without we get an amazing 7.7lt/100klm. We dont do any city driving as we live rural mainly do average 85-95klm/hr on the crap Qld rural roads. We have (touch wood) had not a single fault with our pride & joy. As ex Prado Grande people we are ecstatic with our Jeep. We tell a lie- we had a rattle inside passenger front door, took the door card off & found the little light holder that lights up the inner door handle was rattling around , adjusted it & alls well now. We have bought all the oil/filters needed for the 6month/10000klm service, & have checked that the sump plug will undo!, so all ready to do the service ourselves. We have replaced the DRL's with LED bulbs & they work excellently. The Passenger side bulb glows very dimly however whenever a door is opened or any electrics are used.. have searched internet & found this is a common fault with LED's as they seem to attract "induction" current in the wiring harness sometimes depending on what else is in the harness , so there must be a large harness that the passenger side DRL light wiring runs thru that has another wire with "accessory" or Ignition on current running thru it. The Driver side does not suffer any dim glow . Its not an issue really it takes a keen eye to spot the glow in the bulb. It cuts out after about 1 minute when the vehicle is stopped & everything is off , so really its only on very very dimly when theres someone using the vehicle.

Hey all. The mrs and I are currently driving to Melbourne from Brisbane. This pic shows the fuel consumption in 41 degree heat after a refuel (1/2 tank) at Taree.

On current numbers we could potentially get to Melbourne on a tank and a half but would be cutting it fine.

On our way to Goulburn to stop for the night and it's still 32 degrees outside!

Cheers,

Clarkey.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

That is pretty good. We did a trip last weekend Sydney/Melb/Sydney.
On the run down, we averaged 7.5 l/100
The return (in 43c heat) we only got 8.3 l/100.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

I recently returned from a Brisbane to Sydney (Penrith) trip via the Pacific Hwy going down I got 7.8L/100km which included running around Yamba and Forster. Got me there on less than one tank (about 1100km). Considering the car had only 2800km on it when I left Brisbane, 2 adults, 2 kiddies and a full compartment of luggage, I was happy with that! In fact, when I passed Byron Bay I was sitting on 6.9L/100km, nice!
Didn't record the return trip via the New England (most of the way), but had some fun taking back (dirt) roads....

Speaking of which, I'm at 17k and she's running awesome. What sort of kms is standard for running in a diesel? I'm sure I read somewhere it is 20k before a diesel starts to loosen up?

Just towed my boat down to Batemans Bay & return to Sydney. Drove mostly at 100-110kph and was pulling 2 tonnes. Averaged 12.04 l/1000km. The only time I could notice I was pulling a boat was coming down Sugarloaf mountain on the Kings Highway - very steep descents and 25kph hairpins.

At one stage on another section of the highway when on an overtaking lane on a steep incline, some fool in a Toyota who had been tooling along under the speed limit, holding everyone up decided they didn't want to be overtaken and tried to speed up and cut me and the other cars off as I was overtaking. Even with the boat on the back I had plenty of power to leave that idiot behind while they were obviously flat to the floor.

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

I just got back to Brisbane after a trip to Melbourne.

Drove down via the Newell Hwy with an empty trailer and doing $1.30 most of the time with 9.4l/100km's returned.

Drove back through the High Country, over the Spur to Warburton, Buxton and Bonnie Doon and the trailer loaded with a heap of tools and two motorbikes.

Blew me away getting to Sydney and finding the computer was smack on at 12.0l/100km because I drove it very hard through those mountain ranges. Couldn't believe the power and torque hey... Ill add my rig is a Nissan Patrol TD42ti, so admitting the missus Jeep is in another leauge isn't easy to admit.

The leg Syd-Bris returned 10.4l/100.

So very very happy with the Jeep, cant believe I nearly bought a Prado... Hahaha

Re: Fuel consumption on my new 3.0 CRD limited -

my 3.0l with 190cv consumes an average of 10 L/100km, with 2500 km.
At a speed of 130 km / h the instantaneous power bar shows 8 l/100km
