Gc wk2 crd swirl motor

Hi
My jeep gc wk2 2011 crd diagnosed with swirl motor failure. Is this a common issue with this new motori Diesel engine like the old merc engine?? Has any of you experienced this. I am still under the 3 year warranty in uk so no cost to me but how long the new motor will last. My jeep is two year 10 month old with 20,000 miles on the clock.
Any advice. Thanks

Re: Gc wk2 crd swirl motor

Further to my post garage started work on swirl motor replacement and now saying they need more parts than ordered and new parts need to come from the USA and May take up to two weeks as none in UK. Normally any other make of car parts are sourced by next day.!!!

Hi

What is a "Swirl Motor"? Is that the turbo?

Re: Gc wk2 crd swirl motor

Swirl pot motor actuates a flap in the air intake to mix the air flow for the engine to run better at lower speed. This has failed on the pre 2010 Jeep gc wk Merc Diesel engines due to oil contamination by leaking turbo hose seal and that's my understanding unless someone else can explain this better?
I have not heard of this failure in the new VM Motori Diesel engine in gc wk2. Is mine the first and one off or is it going to be contagious? Cheers.

Re: Gc wk2 crd swirl motor

Got the jeep gc wk2 back after week and a half for swirl motor / inlet manifold replacement. Parts alone came to £1800 + 10 hours labour. That is over $4000+? Luckily my Jeep is still just under the standard three year warranty.
Now I am trying to get extended warranty before the manufacture's warranty runs out in six weeks. Jeep dealers saying that Jeep is trying to setup the extended warranty but delayed due to Fiat takeover? Has any one else had the similar issue with swirl motor and extended warranty?

Re: Gc wk2 crd swirl motor

After all the above issues I have a coolant leak from the water pump and awaiting a replacement before the warranty runs out by end of September. Has any one changed the water pump recently on wk2 crd? I cannot find any technical details on this or a part number for future reference. I have done just 20000 miles and two water pumps?

Think yourself lucky it was only a couple of weeks!

My 16 month old 14 plate Summit CRD has been in the dealers for 7 weeks now with engine failure. Initially diagnosed as injector knocking by jeep despite it being a lower engine knock, its now engineless pending a complete new engine replacement on a car that's only done 16k!

Not to mention the other issues its had prior under warranty including fuel pipes coming loose, sunroof issues, and alloys needing replacement for blistering!

Yes its under warranty but you don't expect a new car half way under warranty to have engine failure and need a replacement engine!

Re: Gc wk2 crd swirl motor

lol you know this thread is 2 years old.

And you are the first to have crd engine failure, that this community has ever heard. So cant be common. Sucks to have issues like this on a new car thow.
