Grand Cherokee diesel for Europe.

Looks like the diesel GC for Europe and overseas models will be as the previous Mercedes unit....

Re: Grand Cherokee diesel for Europe.

The Mercedes diesel power plant is a good unit but they could increase power and torque for this new edition.

In case of, it's very easy to increase its performances.

Re: Grand Cherokee diesel for Europe.

The WK2 is not going to use the Mercedes OM642 V6, but a new 3.0 Litre V6 by VM Motori and FPT Powertrain. According to http://www.vmmotori.it/en/01/00/01/dettaglio.jsp?id=9 the new engine develops 250 HP (184 Kw) and 404 lb/ft (550 Nm)

Australian press is reporting that WK2 will indeed have the carry-over Mercedes unit.

Re: Grand Cherokee diesel for Europe.

Apparently, Jalopnik got it wrong first, was then cited as a source by many others. Marchionne himself said that the 3.0 V6 engine is an FPT one.

Re: Grand Cherokee diesel for Europe.

And here

http://www.media.chrysler.com/newsre...=10549&mid=297

is the same press release in english, with many interesting details on the engine.

The final power number is 177 Kw (241 Hp).

The fuel economy numbers are obviously based on the EU standard, thus not directly comparable with the US numbers
