Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

Auto Express in the UK have tested a GC in the Arctic circle. The model was a petrol 3.6 but the details of the diesel are included! The diesel having a six speed auto.

Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

The combined mpg for the diesel is quoted as 34. That is a fantastic figure for a vehicle of such weight.

Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

I really doubt that thing will hit 34mpg.

Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

It's metric MPG, so US MPG would be a little over 28.

Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

the 3.0 benz in the 2007-2008 are getting 23-25 with stock configeration, I we had the 6 gear the benz would be close but we only have 5 gears, less mpg on highway.
Real MPG are not the same as lab treadmills.

Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

Fiat's new diesel engine uses Multi Air technology. Airflow into the engine is managed electronically cylinder by cylinder, through the inlet valves, not the throttle. We will see if the claimed 34 mpg is acheivable in due course.

Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

I think it will not have Multiair, but Multijet technology that is about injection system, not valvetrain. In this engine valves are moved by conventional finger followers.

Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 DIESEL reviewed.

Aren't they using a VW 3.0L engine? So whatever Fiat's working on in moot for now.
