How about 55-65 or 65-70 mph time?

We all know that the CRD has excellent reviews, specially the low RPM torque. But how about during the essential passing speed on the highway? Specially, when you have to pass someone around the speed limits?

I am not a horsepower vs torque expert, but the following comment from Motor Trend's review of the VW Touareg picked my mind:

"There's a grin-inducing amount of shove down low and then the engine pull levels off dramatically the higher the rpms go. Having a little extra hp is nice for passing situations on interstates with higher speed limits."

Re: How about 55-65 or 65-70 mph time?

Good question. I thought some of the other reviews mentioned great mid-range passing power, I think they mentioned in the 40-60mph range. I'll try to find article but the guys overseas driving them now will know best.

I've got mine chipped and the midrange is excellent, there's no problem passing and it keeps pulling quite hard past 90, not that I'd go those speeds. The standard power pulls ok but the performance box gives it a lot better mid range.

That's not with the 8 speed right? I don't think you UK/EU kids have your 14's on the lots yet, but want to make sure.

I'm in Aus, I've got a 2011 WK2 Laredo CRD, 5 speed. 60mi is 2000 rpm, max torque comes in @ 2500rpm, at 60mi put your foot down and feel it pull hard past 100mi, overtaking is a breeze, just watch out for those radar guns because your going to find your self racking up the fines

Your right mate we don't have the 14 over here yet but the even with the 5 speed its quick, I can imagine the 8 speed would be even better.

Totally agree mate, my 2012 laredo crd climbs to 160 kph with each passing out on the highway far too easily.

Hi Glen.
I have not had her out on the highway since installing the blue spark, I think it will be improved, as the engine seems much more willing to rev with the Bluespark in.
I have taken the Bluespark out as I'm having some flash updates done by dealer, and the GC was definitely less responsive with out it

Interesting reading on Bluespark. I wonder whether the company will be able to offer the same system to us here in the U.S.
