Sold order is when a customer name is attached to the order to factory. This is vs. a stock order which would be for dealer stock.

My understanding is there will be some flexibility in demand. As this is a global engine and has already been in use in Oz for a while there is a possibility for greater than original plan production. Of course this will also hinge on world demand..

I like the fuel mileage from my last Diesel and that is why I would buy again (and of course towing power). But as I have mentioned to others in this forum, go drive a modern diesel because you are completely correct, they are a thrill to drive!

Ah ok. Sweet. I plan on ordering that way. I don't think I could wait for dealer stock to show up. The addictive diesel torque had already got me hooked and I haven't even driven it yet!

Re: Is the diesel really worth it????

Our experience is that once the buyer commits to a purchse, an order is placed with Detroit. Detroit takes a few weeks to schedule the car. Once scheduled, the car rolls out of the factory a week later ready for shipping. For us to get a vehicle in Oz takes about 5 months. Occasionally a buyer cancells an order but once scheduled, the vehicle is built and shipped to the dealer so sometimes vehicles can be picked up much quicker if one is not fussy about options.

The supply chain is quite long. The compacted graphite iron engine block is cast in Brazil, sent to Italy for engine assembly, then to Detroit for final car assembly.

No wonder it costs so much!

I live in a rural area so my driving is really highway driving (when the nearest fast food joint is still 6 to 7 miles away and grocery store is about 11 to 12 miles). However, we also needed a tow vehicle in addition to my every day driver and I couldn't justify the mpg on the V8. When my husband mentioned the CRD, I was sold. He gets his tow vehicle, I get a decent gas mileage everyday vehicle with all the bells and whistles that looks great. I don't mind paying extra for that. A win win in my book. So I wait until it can be mine.
Believe me, it's worth the wait, love!!!!!!!!!!! mine.

To me, a diesel is the perfect engine in a jeep. I was completely undecided on my next vehicle, leaning toward an S4. When I found out the GC was getting a diesel, it made up my mind for me.

Same here... Soon as I found out about the Diesel in the Jeep is the entire reason I converted. Driven the other 3.0 diesels and I will never go back to gas if I can possibly help it, but it is PAINFUL waiting!
