Re: Real World Diesel mileage

Hi,

I have just purchased a Blackhawk diesel and finished my first interstate run. Figures are:

3092Km
257.77 litres
Cost $311.47

8.33L/100Km with about 10% town running
cost $9.92 per 100Km and for our American friends 34.04MPG (imperial gallon)

Very happy as the Jeep was full of luggage and temperature was around 32-35 Deg C. Only downside was I hit a Kangaroo which has damaged the front bumper, any ideas on roo bars out there?

Thanks for posting your run. However, 8.33L/100 km is 28.24 mpg in the USA. Our gallons are smaller than imperial gallons (don't ask).

I have the Uneek alloy bar on my 2013 GC Laredo.

My daughter and I drove to Hervey Bay last year from Melbourne. I have the 75 litre auxiliary tank and we did the drive without filling up. That is 1900 kms, and we were not driving delicately....

On the return I was driving solo and managed to beat the economy - around 8.2 l/100km.

Cheers

I've got the ECB bigtube alloy bar. Looks great, haven't had cause to test it (touch wood). ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1427782925.486813.jpg

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

Drove up to Gold Coast from Sydney a couple of weeks ago here is my observation. For reference I have a stock standard MY14 Diesel Limited with QL, off road group but running on 20s (Yokohama Parada Spec-X stock size 38PSI cold). 2 adults and 2 young kids plus maybe 100kg of luggage. The speedo is out by 1-2% compared to the GPS speed.

Cruising at freeway speed ie 110kph (actual speed as verified by the GPS) the fuel consumption is around 7.1l/100km indicated.

With the road works north of Coffs the average speed drop to 70-80kph and the average consumption dropped to 6.8l/100lm indicated.

By the time I needed fuel the average reading for the tank was 7.2l/100km and the actual consumption using the distance traveled and what actually went into the tank worked out to be 7.36l/100kms. Put into account the speedo error 7.5l/100km with a fully loaded car it is is not bad. Also note I was not driving in fuel saving mode, there were plenty of WOT where permitted along the way.

On the way home we did a lot more exploring and even did some beach driving, the indicated was 7.6l/100km.

For reference when I am towing a enclosed kart trailer (similar frontal size compared to the GC @ 700kg) I am getting around 11l/100km on the freeway.

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

Have a similar spec MY 14 but with 18inch tyres.. your figures are consistent with what I achieve under similar conditions... at a speed of 85kmh (if you can stand it).. fuel economy kicks up quite a bit..
