Real World Diesel mileage

Here is an enthusiastic test report of the new jeep. They do reveal their mileage for the test and the EcoDiesel lives up to the hype.

FIRST REVIEW: Does The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Have The Goods To SHAKE UP The Premium SUV Market? - AutoSpies Auto News

"So here is what I saw in two days of testing (I did not baby them nor overwork them. I wanted to see what the average driver can expect in the real world)... 3.6 6 Cyl. 17-18 city, 22-23 hWY. 3.0 eco-Diesel 22 city, 28-30 HWY. SRT 13 city, 17 HWY."

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

I would not doubt these figures at all. Mine it driven hard and many short trips. I average 13.4l/100km in the city where I do 99% of my driving in traffic and short runs. When I did get on the highway @120km/h I averaged 7l/100km.

The best part is that you do not suffer really bad economy if you drive hard. The car seems to sip the fuel no matter the driving style.

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

Well I've on the City return (if you call Brisbane a city) at 10.7, but you beat me on the open road as I only turn in 8.1-8.6.

Must go for a drive down to Melbourne and check it over a long drive.

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

Hi,

my one consumes after now 11000km all in all about 9L per 100km,
only driving in the city about 10-11L and on highway cruise
with about 120km/h about 8L.

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

Ours is generally below 10, doing the school and shopping run. Over 10 if we have been towing the boat. (Rolling averages per the computer, not reset).

Best was 8.3 but on a 700k round trip.

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

After 12.000 Kms:

Highway (120-130 km/h): 8.3 - 8.5 L /100 km
Around city (90-100 Km/h): 7.5 L /100 Km
City (with short trips and always cold motor): 12 - 13 L /100 Km

Trip computer very close to real consumption measured at fuel station.

My CRD 2013 Laredo returns around 8.3 l/100kms driving at 100 to 110 km/h. I only have around 5000 kms on the odometer so it should improve.
The trip compter is very accurate, which surprised me.
Cheers

Re: Real World Diesel mileage

1900km round trip Melboure-SA-Melbourne got 8.7L/100km. 1500km of that was towing a camper trailer, the rest was driving around the Adelaide hills and wineries. Still blown away that I can drive Melb-Sydney or Melb-Adelaide on one tank of fuel.

At first I assumed it must be an export, but then the "Denver to Albuquerque" threw me off.

One of the instructors at the "Chrysler Academy" in Atlanta yesterday said that he's been getting around 21mpg with his CRD while pulling his boat roughly 200 miles. No one was able to ask him how big the boat was or anything, but if true, that's hella good news for me, as I'll be pulling a 23' travel trailer weighing right about 6000lbs. Anything near 20 will be a nice reprieve I'm getting now.
