Or AUD$62K for a company Overland CRD that does have the Quadra-drive and more torque than a hemi.

Plus it has the Adaptive cruise control so once set you don't get the tickets

Re: That Diesel is Expensive

So performance wise how does the CRD compare to the V8? Which would be quicker? If I were to consider a diesel at some point the only thing that I would miss would be the sound of the V8 (especially with Corsa) :-)

0-100km(0-60mi) the CRD beats the Hemi by .5 of a second

Re: That Diesel is Expensive

The CRD has a nice v6 exhaust note to it. So you can get a nice roar from under the bonnet, without the massive fuel bill.

Hi BobT, I use cruise control everywhere it is the easiest way I have found to control the power without contantly looking at the speedo

You are right there, maybe on the visor near the other warning labels

Use the cruise control, very easy to use and takes the worry out of constantly checking the speedo I find the diesel so quiet and quick that it only takes a small lapse and your over without even knowing it

I'm using it more and more too. I wish I could have afforded an Overland to get the adaptive cruise control. Standard cruise control is a PITA in traffic.

Re: That Diesel is Expensive

Any available exhausts for the CRD? Looked real quick but found none. Diesels are way efficient with larger exhausts/flow coming out. Unlike gas motors, turbo diesels love wide open exhausts.

The CRD we get in Australia comes with a particulate filter in the exhaust that is monitored by the Engine Control Module......not something to be lightly messed with.
Looking under ours the exhaust from the engine is around 3" diameter that then splits into twin expansion chambers and twin pipes out the back. It puts out a nice v6 grumble as stock.
Can't say that I feel the need for more power, torque or economy (at present) - it does very well on all counts.

Make that 3 speeding fines in 5 months.
