Re: To diesel or not to diesel

Most pumps in the State of WV have gone to pre-pay or pay at the pump... I prefer that anyway, less human interaction haha.

Re: To diesel or not to diesel

In a modern diesel, you can't accidentally put gas in. The nozzle doesn't fit.

Highway Passing speed power. There was another thread in diesel forum asking same thing. I thought I read somewhere that a reviewer specifically said people would be very happy with its highway passing power in the 40-60 mph band. I tried to find the article but couldn't but pretty sure we'll be fine passing at highway speeds.

I've been surprised how many stations here in northern NJ have diesel. Here in NJ we have added problem of no self service by law (stupid I know) so I'm getting little worried about the gas guy accidentally pumping in gas instead of diesel. Stations with separate island helps. I've been doing some web searches and seems our crazy NJ law doesn't apply to diesel so many TDI guys said we could drive up and pump our own but some stations still try to give you trouble.

I guess getting behind a few dump trucks pumping 200 gallons might suck
I live in Oregon, the only other state besides NJ that doesn't let you pump your own gas. I feel your pain.

Tony

I think you'll find its the other way round, the diesel nozzle is bigger than gas, so you can't put diesel in gas cars

It's not size. At least on my current car, there is a safety mechanism to keep an incorrect nozzle from going in.

Re: To diesel or not to diesel

I'm getting the diesel b/c I drive 27K+/year. I generally keep my vehicles for a long time (10+ years). If I LOVE the make/model etc.. of a vehicle I don't mind paying more for something that will make it more enjoyable and useful (towing capabilities, engine life, zippiness) over its lifetime. If I drive it that much the numbers will eventually even out. Yesterday I actually noticed diesel was only 10 cents more per gallon than regular. That's at a station 3 miles from my house.

I've been waiting for this diesel since 2010 & I've been talking smack about it since then so if I don't get it when it comes out I'll look like a politician making promises I don't keep.
