Yep, I checked on the Touareg and you're right. Still, two years or so ago some Euro manufacturer had a hyperburning exhaust setup in lieu of the urea liquid - sort of like a self-cleaning oven. Alas, I don't remember who, much less whether it is still in production.

The Ram 2500 doesn't use the same tranny as the 1500 with the cummins diesel. For the gasoline Hemi 2500 the tranny is the same as the 1500.

Most of the diesels in Europe don't use any urea tank, the particulated is trapped in a filter (DPF) and burned each 600-700km by injection of fuel in the exhaust, thanks to the filter high temperature. This affects mileage as you are throwing away fuel, but there is no additional tank to fill. It can also create problems if you drive mostly in the city, where the DPF can't reach high temperature so the procedure doesn't work. In extreme cases the filter gets full and needs service.

Probably fixable the same way combustion chamber carbon is gotten rid of: an Italian tuneup. A great excuse to haul ass, too.
