Re: WK console lights new member NO "PM" access yet

Having problems with a new laptop and the multiple threads concerning this repair are so similar so I'm getting a bit confused. Some threads are titled "Climate control bezel removal" others address the bulb itself. In some instances when I post I then get a white screen with text and my post. Additionally I'm not too sure where the topic belongs because it seems to be posted in numerous sections on the forum, I don't want anybody who knows the answer to miss my inquiry.

I have no problem doing my own work with my background (diesel bus/coach mechanic), like all my vehicles including my first a '68 International Scout and the '73 Roadrunner I restored from the bottom up (including engine rebuild I did in my garage) my '98 Grand Cherokee Laredo almost never saw a shop. I did the brakes, radiator, water pump, shocks and all the tune-ups/oil changes/grease jobs not forgetting hinges, hood latch etc. It's the same for my wife's '93 Saturn SC2 and my now deceased mother-in-laws '03 PT Cruiser I do almost all the maintainence. The only thing my '98 Jeep GC Laredo went out for was tires, exhaust manifold and exhaust system (I don't have a torch at home which is necessary at times).

In preparation for this job I purchased a pack of ten (10) PC-74 bulbs, I need to know whether I bought the correct bulbs and there's very little info on bulb size since most members here seem to upgrade to LED's. I have no problem replacing the bulbs in the future if they burn out but one doesn't want to remove the climate control assembly often as the clips break easily causing rattles thus my reason for replacing all the bulbs whether burnt out or not. Living in a rural area and performing my work late in the day (I work nights) or on weekends not all the auto parts stores in my locale are open as it was I had to have my local store order the PC-74 bulbs since they only had two in stock.

And if you're not comfortable with soldering......you might not want to attempt. The board has very small soldering points/terminals.

I hate working on "the small stuff" the buses have spoiled me, sure everything is heavy but I'm 6'3" & 200 lbs plus our dash/gauge bulbs may be similar to those in the JGC in fact I use a set of hemostats for changing "warning light' bulbs on a bus dashboard . The worst part of working on a car or SUV for me is getting under the dash, no such problems when working on a intercity coach or transit/commuter bus.
