Joining Jeep Family - Need Advice on SRT Towing Capability

Hi All,
I don't have a jeep yet.. but I am very close to making my decision on going with a 2017 GC SRT... Very exciting.. I'm currently driving a 2008 F150 Harley, but I'm looking forward to moving to a smaller vehicle with the extra ponies to make life fun....

My question is in regards to towing. I have a 21 ft Travel Trailer that I pull 5 - 10 times a year and one of my main decisions on going with the jeep is that it is one of the only Mid Size SUV's that has a towing rating above 7000 lbs.

My trailer is ~5000 lbs fully loaded... I know the SRT is going to have the power to pull the trailer (and rated for 7200 lbs), but are there any things i need to be weary about with regards to pulling a trailer in the 5-7k lbs range? (Aside from Fuel consumption lol .. my ford gets like 8mpg pullin a trailer anyway)

Who has experience pulling a trailer >5000 lbs with their SRT? Will I see any "stability" issues? (obviously it is going to feel a bit different coming from a 1/2 ton)..

Thanks a bunch!!

I tow a 23' boat with my 5.7 Summit, and it weighs 5500-6000 lbs depending on fuel load. Not as much wind resistance as a travel trailer but no issues with stability or braking. Tows as well, and even better, than my former full size SUVs ('10 QX56 and '12 QX56). Worst vehicle I've used to tow this same boat was an F-150, ha!

Thanks for moving this to the SRT thread.... Good to hear on the heavy boat tow...

I've seen a few people towing smaller boats with either the EcoDiesel or the 5.7, just not really anything with the SRT... Not sure if there difference in suspension on the SRT that might make towing "different"

I'm sure that now I'm in the right thread some SRT Towers will chime in..

Thanks,
