2014 New SRT Owner (Already have issues)

Hi all,

First off. Great forum. So I took the plunge and got my new 2014 SRT 3 weeks ago. Only 766 miles and last night all steering went out and smoke started coming out of the engine bay. Somehow got it to pull over and noticed all steering fluid leaked out from underneath and splashed all over the engine bay.

Had to tow to dealer. Not sure if anything else was damaged in the process.

Anyone had this issue?

Re: 2014 New SRT Owner (Already have issues)

They are replacing the power steering line and drive belts. Having them also look at the "whining/whistling" noise on acceleration.

While at the dealer having them change out the stock brake pads with Hawk HPS as discussed in this forum. Will report back on brake dust to see if its reduced

Also doing an oil change to mobil1 0w40

Hope the power steering issue was a freak thing. Emailed SRT team regardless about it

Yup. Will do. Heard others had that whining whistling noise going up on the gears. Anyone know what the fix was?

For the whining / whistling on acceleration they are replacing the intake. They think that was making the noise. Should be ready today. Will post back once confirmed.

Re: 2014 New SRT Owner (Already have issues)

Here is the verdict:

Steering loss - High Pressure steering was rubbing against the belt puncturing it and caused fluid drainage. Replaced hose and drive belt.

Whining/Whistling Noise - Came from Intake. Replaced with Intake and noise gone. If anyone is experiencing this on acceleration check the intake and have it replaced

Day 1 on Hawk HPS brake pads. So far so good

Glad you got your problems resolved.
I had a feeling that the whistling was from the intake. I have a 2005 Ram 1500 with a Ram Man air scoop and once in a while it whistles as well. Directs the cold air into the stock air filter box.
