2014 SRT camshaft actuator and more....not happy with SRT

So, in less than a week I had roadside assistance come to my house twice (Saturday and Tuesday) to tow my 2014 SRT (2976 miles) to the dealership, for the following reasons/codes:

P0013 (Bank 01 Camshaft actuator open)?
P0622 (Generator field not switching)?
P3401 (Exhaust gas recirculation system performance)?
P3425 (Cylinder 4 Deactivation/Intake valve control circuit/open)?
P3441 (Cylinder 6 Deactivation/Intake valve control circuit/open)?

So, on the first visit (Saturday) to the dealership, I chalked this up to being a fluke, and just went with the flow and left it in the "capable" hands of the dealership. They called me up later that day and said they ran a software update and cleared all the codes (they thought some of the codes shouldn't be showing on a Jeep SRT) and that the vehicle was good to go. We were at a family Labor day cook out, so were unable to pick up until Monday. No issues with pick up on Monday.

Tuesday afternoon (vehicle had been sitting in the garage since getting it home Monday) I go out to pick the kids up from school, and guess what...Won't start! Same codes. Called roadside assistance, and had tow truck dispatched. While waiting for said tow truck, I decide SRT customer service needs to know what is going on.
I pass on to SRT this is the second time, and that it was already "fixed" by the dealership. At this point I am quite upset, as I wanted to drive her to my SRT experience this Thursday @ VIR (not gonna happen now ).
The SRT rep. tells me that I will have a Grand Cherokee loaner from the dealership, and that all costs associated with that loaner will be covered.

I guess the dealership forgot to get on the same page as SRT. I advised the dealership to call SRT and confirm, but low and behold, the SRT rep. that I was dealing with had left to go home. So I had to refrain from choking the living hell out of the service rep at the dealership and take the base model Jeep Cherokee as my loaner. The one with less than a quarter of a tank of gas no less!!!

I drove home in a purple haze of anger and called SRT back to rant some more. So at this point, the original SRT rep. (the one who went home) will get a "star case" started (?) and do everything in his power to get my vehicle fixed as soon as possible and also try to get me a proper loaner from the dealership. Supposedly this will happen first thing tomorrow morning (3rd of September).

I'm not sure, but do I have a right to be angry over the way this was handled? I feel that for the money we spent on these SUVs the least we can expect is a decent "like" loaner with a decent amount of gas in it.

Now I have to slink my way into an SRT event in a base model Cherokee...

Just a follow up if anyone happens to have the same issues or codes thrown at them. The dealership (after being ass-chewed by SRT) finally did the proper checking under the hood, and found it to be some of the grounding wires. Apparently they were loose at the contacts and it was causing the above mentioned issues.

If anyone has similar issues, maybe start with the grounds...

wow, really sorry to hear about your experience with a not inexpensive vehicle!

loose ground wires? must be some of those uaw workers drinking on their lunch break again.

really inexcusable. i want a jgc but am still on the fence because of stories like yours.

the loaner with low gas isn't as big a deal to me as the car having problems in the first place.

Re: 2014 SRT camshaft actuator and more....not happy with SRT

There aren't many like vehicle loaners out there these days. So many JGCs are in for brake booster recalls and now waiting for parts. Mine has been off the road with no brakes (master cylinder, booster and shield to be installed) for three weeks now. Two others in ahead of it are still waiting. The dealer delivered me to the nearest Hyundai dealer, where there is a rental outlet, and I am now driving a base model Chevy with the strange name Equ nox. The "i" dropped out of it's name.

Pulled in to my neighbors drive the other day, parked behind his Hemi Ram, and he said "Get that thing out of my drive". Sad, my dogs don't even like it.

However, in two fun years of owning the SRT8, this is the only problem I've had. It's enough.

I took a stroll on the "other" forum, and a couple other owners had the same issues, which also led to be the grounding wires.

I know man is not perfect, so in a sense what man builds isn't perfect either, but come on.....grounding wires????

Maybe I should be happy it wasn't anything worse.

On a lighter note...My SRT Track experience at VIR was an amazing event. I took home two Cone "trophies" a free Nike dry fit zip up and a free fleece. If anyone is on the fence about going to one of these events, just do it!!!

we were actually advising members to check their grounding wires in pre checks a couple years ago. It must be a noob job at JNAP! LOL

I guess I should take back most of my anger towards SRT, as they were the ones who covered the cost of the loaner, and also put on a kick-ass track experience.

In either case, she seems to be running fine now, and sounds like a beast with the GT Haus installed.
