I have done 15000 klm in my 2014 SRT. Got a nail in the wall of a rear run flat, so ordered a new tyre, only to be told after it arrived that I you cannot replace them individually, is this correct. The tyres are still in very good condition otherwise

Actually the installer maybe right, the Jeep is awd and if you change one tire that is new and others have 15k+ miles that will affect the diffs and can damage them due to the difference in tread amount (one tire could rotate at a different speed than the others). I know when I owned my Evo it was common for owners to replace all 4. Now if the other tires were newer then you could get away with it. It has nothing to do about the tires being runflats.

Well I just replaced two of my tyres and the AWD system works fine. And to prove this BS story even more, on the weekend I ran a very old set of tyres I got from a mate who replaced his. I bought a second hand set of wheels and used them for burnouts.... again with NO AWD issues. Amazing how much bullshit is on the net. :)

The OP indicated that his 2014 SRT had logged 15k kilometers--approximately 9,321 miles--when one of its tires was punctured. He stated that the other three tires were in "very good condition."

From the 2015 Jeep SRT Owner's Manual:

"The tires on your new vehicle provide a balance of many characteristics. They should be inspected regularly for wear and correct cold tire inflation pressures. The manufacturer strongly recommends that you use tires equivalent to the originals in size, quality and performance when replacement is needed....
It is recommended to replace the two front tires or two rear tires as a pair. Replacing just one tire can seriously affect your vehicle’s handling. If you ever replace a wheel, make sure that the wheel’s specifications match those of the original wheels.

It is recommended you contact your authorized tire dealer or original equipment dealer with any questions you may have on tire specifications or capability. Failure to use equivalent replacement tires may adversely affect the safety, handling, and ride of your vehicle."

For a supplemental view--one which does not cite vehicle dynamics as the primary concern during tire replacement, see http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=18

I had the same exact issue a while ago where a small piece of nail punctured my inner tire wall and was leaking air slowly. However, the shop & the dealer never told me I couldn't replace them individually. Matter of fact, the dealership had told me, if I wanted to save some money, I COULD replace just that one tire and I would of been fine. But I preferred to replace both rear tires to save future headache of going back again replacing the other one.
