Re: 2014 SRT Whistle noise during 60-35mph deceleration

Did the CV Joints take care of the issue? Not sure if the Overland with Hemi has the same CV Joints, but I have the same noise on decel, the only difference I might have is that mine gets quite loud at 82 MPH like a component is reaching it's natural frequency. Mine has been in the shop 8 days and has had everything replaced - prop shaft, tires, wheels, etc. with no success.

Re: 2014 SRT Whistle noise during 60-35mph deceleration

The noise is coming from the front prop shaft CV joints. This issue was cause by a broach process that left a surface finish slightly out of tolerance. The noisy prop shaft will not cause any issues with the vehicle. Service parts have been updated.

The issue discribed on Jinelson's vehicle sounds like a different issue. WK SRT's run power to the front drive shaft all the time, Overlands do not. You must have power to the front axle to create the decel noise.

When were the parts updated because my car was manufactured in June and it still makes that noise.

Re: 2014 SRT Whistle noise during 60-35mph deceleration

Hello fellow SRTers. What a great site with a ton of useful info... I am the proud new owner of a '14 SRT sporting those black chrome wheels and Redline II paint... a simply amazing vehicle! I ended up with it because my local dealer tried to fix my '14 Summit more times than the "lemon" law allowed for. My dealer applied some pressure on Jeep and upgraded me to the SRT. It was a 25% increase per month but soooo worth it to me.
I am getting that tiny whine in my front end at deceleration just like many have described and I have a date with the dealership for a spot of paint repair today. Armed with the great info here about the prop I can make some inquiries about that very issue this afternoon. Thanks to you all for your dedication and devotion to the community, I am hooked and hope to swap SRT stories as I learn what these beasts are truly capable of ;-)

Welcome! I have the same vehicle. Let me know how it turns out. I haven't had a chance to make it in to the dealer yet.

I, also, am quite interested in the findings; had the whistle for the first few hundred miles (thought it was from the rear diff/axle/driveshaft area). Disappeared now and over 2000 miles....?

Ditto, had it in the first few hundred miles, and now its gone, I check for it every once in a while, and so far, all good.

Re: 2014 SRT Whistle noise during 60-35mph deceleration

For starters I now have a bit over 700 miles on my SRT and still have the issue.

I was at the SRT drive experience yesterday - what a great event by the way. I spoke with the SRT technician that travels with them. He said he had never heard of this issue. I drove or rode in all 3 SRTs they had and they all had the issue. The mileage was over 2K for the one I looked at so I would assume they were all close.

By the end of the day the technician came up to me and said he spoke with a lead engineer at SRT and stated that SRT has never heard of this problem and definitely hasn't diagnosed it. He said if they had, there would have been a recall bulletin. I assured him people out there have called SRT and supposedly it's been diagnosed.

What gives? Does SRT know about the issue and have they determined a fix?

Wow. That makes me feel better. NOT. I guess I'll call SRT so they can become even more aware of this issue.

Re: 2014 SRT Whistle noise during 60-35mph deceleration

Hi All, new on this forum and first reply. Frustrated that a $74k+ (CDN) SRT drives and vibrates like a John Deere! Shifts are horrible and the tranny seems to be confused on which gear it should be in... Told by the dealership it's the Tranny breaking in and "learning - adapting" to the driving style and to wait until 1000 km's by one guy, 2500 km's by another guy and 5000 km's by another guy until this is resolved or the tranny "learns" .... For such a top end vehicle (after the viper) proposed by Chrysler One would think you would enjoy driving it right out of the lot. Disappointed and not sure who to contact and dealership is of no help... Have owned BMW and Mercedes - none of which required the suffering and sacrifice of this stupid breaking in "learning-adapting" period at the sacrifice of the driving experience of the owner.... Anyone else having this issue, no of a fix?? Dealerships in Canada seem to be out to lunch with some of the high school techs they have working for them - no help.

Help a fellow Canadian SRT enthusiasts guys!!
