2014 SRT Whistle noise during 60-35mph deceleration
So I have had my SRT for a day now, and already have 360 miles! I made the drive from Detroit to Chicago yesterday so it was a great way to experience the car for the first time. Because I had to use the highway right away I was sure to vary the RPM as much as possible.... and a few long redline sweepers kept me smiling!! I must say, smoothest highway cruiser i have driven. I am have had many Audi sedans before this. Great work Chrysler!
Anyways, shortly after I got on the road in traffic i noticed a relatively loud whistling sound coming from under the vehicle while decelerating from anywhere between 60 to 34 mph. It is pretty pronounced and does not change when I select a different select-track mode or a lower/higher gear. It seems as though it is coming from the driveshaft although i cant be sure. Once I tap the gas, even ever so slightly, it goes away and then comes right back. (obviously not a wind noise)
I spoke with a Chrysler rep and they have had a small handful of these reports come in this week. They are on it and trying to do some R&D although I thought id see in any other members on here have experienced something similar. Give it a try next time you are driving. It is most noticeable at 45(ish) mph while coasting with no gas or brake.
Other than that I am really enjoying the car. I do hope it gets a little quicker with age...mine only showed at 5.2 when I did my one and only 0-60 late last night.
