Annoying rattle/buzzing sound with acceleration

Looking to see if anyone has had a similar problem. I have recently noticed an annoying rattle / buzzing sound with acceleration in 2000-3000 rpm range in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears. It seems like it occurs at a certain exhaust note pitch and it seems to be coming from the dash area but it is hard to localize. My SRT has only 1300 miles on it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Annoying rattle/buzzing sound with acceleration

The most common cause of the noise you are describing is the exhaust making contact with the black strap underbody reinforcement located approximately under the passenger seat. The hot end or your exhaust needs to be aligned. This is accomplished by loosening the attachments to both exhaust manifolds and to the front of center muffler. With the joints loose, shake the exhaust sytem and it will self center. tighten the attachements and your good to go. The dealer will have information on this issue and should be able to fix it very quickly once the exhaust cools enough to work on the car.

Maybe one of your paddle shifters is loose? Mine is and it makes a faint tinking sound on the road, ive got to go get it tightened.

Paddle shifters are tight. The noise is definitely related to the exhaust pitch at certain RPM's in first/second gear. I will have the dealer check the exhaust. Thanks MrGCSRT8.

Anything to do with the valves shutting on and off for the fuel saving purposes?

I had the same problem upon delivery. There is a metal strap that keeps the exhaust secure and it was incorrectly spaced from the exhaust, so it made contact with it with the vibration from the road. Dealer gave it the correct spacing and the problem was solved.

I have been noticing a rattle coming from the dash on my 2014 overland. You can hear the rattle when you are in reverse around 800-1000 rpm. You can also hear it at the same rpm in gear 1 and 2. I can't hear the rattle from outside the jeep. Seems to be coming from the inside of the dash. Any ideas what it could be? Anybody else have this rattle?

Check the earlier comments on this, there are folks who have found an extra metal strap or bar of some sort underneath the dash near the steering column that was causing this issue
