Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

I'm in a 15 SRT and curious to hear if anyone else thinks it up shifts too quickly? Forgive me for not knowing the correct lingo... I recall when I drove a manual when I shifted into a higher gear too soon the rpms may have been as low as 1000 and you'd hear/feel a low muffling reverberation. I see that when I have it in Eco and winter mode it does it nearly the whole time, which I presume is the logic of the mode; lower rpm more economical and better for more slippery terrain. But in regular auto mode I feel it too, not as bad not as consistent but still there on occasion. Bothers me cause last car I had never had this observation. Could just be me, so wondering if others notice as well.

Re: Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

It is normal.
All cars will try to shift to top gear ASAP to improve fuel economy. Putting it in Sport mode makes it better.

Re: Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

The tranny is effectively in learning mode for about the first 6,000 miles. Now is the time to drive it like you want it to "learn". I can't confirm that it takes paddle shift driving habits and applies it to auto mode shift points but it does take everything into account when programming itself with your "style".

Show it who's boss.

Re: Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

I have a 14 and it gets into 4th gear by 20 mph which I think is a little ridiculous. I pretty much only use sport mode or shift manually in auto mode because of this and it's a little irritating. I was beginning to think it was me but clearly it's an issue with the software.

20 mph in 4th? Are u driving it like a grandma? lol

I understand driving in eco on highway trips...but it sounds like people are driving in eco daily. You bought a performance vehicle people...drive it like one. If you poke around in your 500 hp, 8 speed high po suv all the time like a granny.....that will become the norm for it. These vehicles learn your habits! Get out and have a blast! That's wwhat its built for.

Re: Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

Shouldn't require directions... I just drive it and it's irritating to notice. Any more complex than that, is just dissatisfying in my opinion. What's a pain is I notice it in auto now daily. And ECO shouldn't be an excuse for poor performance. Just do it right in whatever mode.

Re: Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

it is unfortunately your car is smarter than you. You drive it like a freaking granny....its gonna perform like a granny. Most of you bought the wrong vehicle and need a fwd Cherokee.

Re: Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

That's what makes the auto tuning not usable.. the car will get into 4th or 5th gear in the parking lot below 20 mph. Sport mode stays in 3rd or less which is normal. I have driven the car very aggressively without abusing it but the auto mode has never been usable without paddle shifting

Re: Anyone else notice up shifting too soon?

I do not see the big deal in the car getting to 4th at 20mph, if you are only using light throttle. I bet if you floor it, it will not do that.
The car will try to get into higher gears due to fuel consumption and noise. You would be complaining if it was bouncing of the rev limiter, rather than changing up at low RPM.
