This is not good at all. Much more issues from a body shops paint job, than the cover itself popping out.

Jeep needs to make the retainer. They have already been paid.

That depends on the body shop. A proper body shop can recreate a factory paint job and the best expert in the world would never know the difference.

Re: Bumper cover issues

Shurely this cover popped out of place on the autobahn at 162 miles per hour!! Why wasn't it fixed then. None of us should be waiting for a fix this late in the game. When my jeep came off the transport from ontario the cover was hanging off. I just don't want some body shop drilling up through the fender and installing screws...I'm not that stupid. Hopefully a TSB will come along soon.

Re: Bumper cover issues

Check the Star Case for photos on the filing of the clip.

I stopped by Napa and picked up some plastic rivets and tore into my Fascia last night. Very easy fix guys. No need to pull the fascia....at least for the clip and possibly for the lower headlight corner. I removed the four rivets and the one fenderwell screw and had total access to the clip. Two bolts and the clip comes off. I grabbed a file and filed down the two raised runners shown in the photo and I sharpened the edge on the actual clip itself......it comes with a beveled edge for some reason, but this alone would cause it to slip out. I then noticed I also had access to the lower corner of my headlight and checked out the clasp or lip that was not locking. I got 1 inch wide 3m tape, cut a piece the length on the fastener and put it right under the clasp itself. When I tried to push it back in the 3m tape grabbed and didnt want to latch because it was so sticky. I just flexed that corner up and gave it a good bump with my fist and it locked in and didnt budge...now back to the fascia clip. Got the clip bolted back on and when I pushed the fascia into it I actually heard it snap in! I pulled on it some and it felt very solid. I got everything buttoned back and it looks perfect. Hopefully with everything where it should be, it will start to mold and adjust to its new postion with a little heat. I have no idea if it will all stay where it needs to, but will keep everyone posted. Once again, the damn pop rivets took more time than fixing both fascia problems. The fix is bitter sweet as I nicked one of my wheels jacking with those damn pop rivets, the chips about the size of a small match head. Anyone know if there is a paint code for the wheels?

Re: Bumper cover issues

Going to get some rivets tomorrow . Thanks for the info I would rather fix myself than take to bodyshop. I might remove my wheels first.
Thanks Hammerhead!!

Re: Bumper cover issues

I would also like to do mine myself. You have a part # for the pop rivits? And how do you remove them? Also how hard is it to get to the driver head light? I have a clip that is not holding on the bottom left of it.
Thanks

Re: Bumper cover issues

Just wanted to give an update. The far side of the Fascia is holding 100% and survived a 130MPH romp this weekend. The spot under the inside corner of my headlight did pop out after about a week. I think this is because the double sided tape I used I found out, wasnt waterproof. Picking up some 1" 3M tape this week and that should handle it. The drivers side of my Fascia has just a little bit of the corner easing out. I may just pull it off and knock it out too.

FYI !!!!!!!

Dont constantly push the Fascia back in after it pops out !!!!!!

This will wear the edge of the holes in the Erethane Fascia, thus will make the holes that hold it weak and the top worn down.

Thanks
I can get a NAPA part number for the rivets this evening Radbushi. Bout 5 bucks for a pack of ten. Get two packs though!! It takes two tries for me to get one rivet just right.

Cut the old pop rivets off with a pair of wire cutters. DONT try to pull them out. This will wallow the holes out and possibly separate the felt fender well from the base strip. Also, dont get the rivets too tight or they will just pull through the holes.
