Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

The piece above my glove box is warped so much I have to put a ton of pressure on it to even get it to lay flat against the dash. I don't think any glue will hold it until I find a way to get it to fit better.

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

Guys, please call and complain, complain, complain to SRT. We need another TSB/recall for this crap. I am 5K miles from my warranty being up, and there are guys on here out of warranty who have gotten screwed. If they formally acknowledge the problem, they may replace them for people out of warranty.

I have my windows all tinted, including the windshield, and close my sunroof and put up my Covercraft custom-fit windshield/dash shade every time I have to park in the sun. Luckily I have a garage at the house I just moved into, and I park underground at work. But that wasn't always the case, so I am sure constant extreme heat/cooling cycles are certainly a factor here in failing adhesive. All of this should hopefully keep my trim, including the leather dash, in check... but who knows. Seems like they used cheap crap on these $70K premium vehicles...

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

No flack from my dealership. They called and said the tech looked at it and never seen it reinstalled so nicely (I glued it back on) and did I still want it replaced? I said yes and he said I'll order it now.

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

I don't have confidence that they have this figured out. Heading to the dealership for the third time to get this addressed, first time was the strip directly in front of passenger, next time was recall and now the passenger side rear door is coming apart....

I probably used the wrong word in my post above, I don't think it was called a recall, I believe the letter I received was a customer satisfaction notification (N06), my 2012 falls within the scope of the vehicles covered under this letter. Details related to this are somewhere in the beginning of this thread.

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

I'm surprised that FCA has not gone back to their CF supplier to have them reformulate the resin they're using in their CF. I'm sure the supplier is paying to replace these parts already, but it's been an ongoing issue that just looks bad for FCA quality. The resin is clearly at fault, as it's shrinking when heated, causing the warp to happen.

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

Ugh...both of my rear passenger doors are warped. I haven't even made an appt yet to go back for the vent replacement one yet. I hope it came in a whole kit so they can do them all at once.
