Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

A notice was sent in the mail, all original owners should have got it. Tells about the poor CF pieces and to take it to your dealer of choice to have them order and replace all of them.

I am holding off for a bit to see how many others start to fall off. So far the pieces on my passenger front AND back doors are coming off. So that's 3 out of 7 for me so far.

P.S. My wheel corrosion is also continuing to get worse, a fleck of paint fell off this weekend. Going to fight that battle same time I take it in for the CF.

I'm not happy and crap like this will make me abandon SRT for good if someone don't do something about this!
What a crock of sh!t!! How does the method of adhesion when building the part have to do with the install?? What, it was installed wrong and the pressure from the part twisting is what caused the adhesion to fail?? GTFO!! I'd be calling SRT and try to get some resolution!

So is this like a TSB, where I can just ask my dealer to change the pieces not swapped yet, for free? If so, seeing the amount of removal involved, I am almost more concerned they'll screw up the rest of the interiors alignment/attachments in the process!!!
My dealer notified me of the Notification. The service person & I inspected the trim & so far everything looks okay. I decided to delay the repair for the same reason, I'm "more concerned they'll screw up the rest of the interiors alignment/attachments in the process!!!"

Total Crock trust me I know all about it 55k and the car is falling apart!!!

I should have mentione the center is peeling up really bad too and since no one repaired it they said they will fix it. LOL 3 weeks ago he order the part I'm starting to think they are full of it and not going to fix this either.

The dash in the 300's has to be replaced if the carbon is falling off guess that's why they repaired it the first time they did not want to replace the entire dash board.

I already called SRT and they told me ro request a District MGR and I asked and he said he would get one but again I'm not too sure they even called about the dash.

If anyone knows of anyone else to call or complain to Please let me know because I'm ready to take my SRT Jeep and 2012 300 Srt and trade them both in I've had it I work and don't have time to chase warratee work and jump through hoops for weeks on end. Especially on a 55k car Total BS

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

I just noticed that the carbon fibre trim on my '12 front passenger door has warped. The repair is covered by the TSB/warranty, but I didn't expect the trim would warp on an almost two year old vehicle. It doesn't appear to be heat related as it hasn't been over 8F for the past month. It makes me wonder if the rest of the trim will warp in the future.

I'm taking the Jeep in next week to have the oil cooler & filter assembly replaced to fix the engine oil leak, and I'll have the dealership order the new trim piece.

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

Yeah, I also have a 2012 with an oil leak and the CF warping.

I actually already brought it in for these 2 things last year but it happened again.

I'm pretty sure the carbon fiber problem was recalled. When they replaced mine the first time though they only did some pieces and now the ones they didn't replace are doing the same thing.

I also had an oil leak that they said was due to a bad filter but now I'm having the same leak so I'm wondering if that is true.

It kind of sucks bringing the car in for warranty service too, maybe its just my dealer but they don't even have a loaner cars. They make you get picked up by a rental car company and you get some crappy rental car. I know mercedes, audi and even VW would give you a somewhat decent SUV or comparable car but for a $60,000 vehicle Jeep is really lacking in their service department.

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

Good News: The oil leak repair seems to have worked, as I haven't noticed any leaks for two weeks.

Bad News: The carbon fiber trim pieces are on back order. You'd think if there was a recall on 1500 vehicles, the parts would be stocked somewhere to do the work. Two weeks now & no sign of the parts. The warped piece on the passenger door has now cracked with the cold. The embarrassing part is I belong to a couple of car clubs, & they're laughing at me having trim pieces warping & falling off my $70K Chrysler vehicle.

Re: Carbon Fiber Warped in Hot Sun

Yep, my 14 has seen some pretty hot days here in OZ, 35 degrees and up and
I have zero warping issues.
