I ordered mine just before Thanksgiving and took delivery just after Christmas. With the number of people who have raised issue with this, you'd think this would be high on Chrysler's priority list to solve. I love the GC SRT, but my one hesitation in buying it was that it was a Chrysler product and I've had bad luck with their products in the past. Stayed away from them for years, but test drove the SRT and loved the power and handling and figured for $70K they would have figured out how to produce a quality product. Looks like I may regret it. Frankly, you're bold getting another one after all you've been through. I would have had them buy it back and taken my hard earned money elsewhere.

I'm giving them another chance. If it's a dud I'll lemon it as well. Now that I realize that the lemon law is pretty strong in my state I'm not the least bit afraid of going through it again. Yes it's a hassle, but like you I like the handling and power that it offers.

What was your original build date? I guess it's possible this could be contained to certain build dates.

Mine was built in December...I think we already eliminated the idea of it being a single "batch".

I'd agree, seems more widespread than just a single lot or batch.

That is the reason why I am so hesitant.
I really want one, but I am like you being anal about my vehicles. It would drive me crazy, especially for the 70K sticker price. There shouldn't be any major issues. Mind you every car/truck built might have issues, but not a bunch of for the same exact problem over and over again. With fixes that do nothing. They must be making money on these because of all the parts and repair time that it costs Jeep.
Good luck everyone.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

I had a chance to put a couple hundred miles on my SRT today and I've got to tell you it really is a wonderful vehicle. It is an absolute joy going down the highway with the cruise set at 80mph and it feels like your going 50. It's just so sure footed and relaxed when you want it to be, but when ever you get on it a little bit your reminded of the beast that lies. Even after everything I been through with this SRT I'm really not second guessing my choice to get another one. It's that good. Tones at the very least I'd stick with this thread and wait for updates from myself and possibly Rlarsen(if he re-enlists) before you write the SRT off for good.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

Oh I'm definitely re-enlisting...I'm just a stupid as you are over this vehicle, it just checks way too many of the necessary boxes. To the point where I have to get one out of state to get the options I want, leaving me exposed to a different states laws if I get another lemon. I never learn.

After all the BS I went though with my Billet Silver one that I have now, it's pretty much all sorted except for some nitpicky stuff and of course the bizarre clunk (which now happens totally randomly at times during deceleration even with no accompanying jerk). Sad part is I LOVE the Billet Silver but I'm after a Red Vapor now and they only come in one color I'll accept which is white.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

Gotcha. I was wondering why you didn't just order one(red vapor is done).

Hopefully the second time's the charm. For both of us.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

Ordering is done, they apparently only made 750, and I'm specific about options...I'm down to a family of only a few vehicles available in the country. Like I said, I'm a certified moron.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

Well at least you won't have to wait long. Ordering for me is 5-7 weeks now and I only live across the state where they're made.

Tomorrow morning I have to bring in my lemon to have the leaking diff looked at. I debated just running it dry, but I'm not sure if it will make it until my new one comes in. There's just a big part of me that's screaming F-it let it ride.
