It's just so sure footed and relaxed when you want it to be, but when ever you get on it a little bit your reminded of the beast that lies. Even after everything I been through with this SRT I'm really not second guessing my choice to get another one. It's that good. Tones at the very least I'd stick with this thread and wait for updates from myself and possibly Rlarsen(if he re-enlists) before you write the SRT off for good.
Yeah,.....I'm like you guys. I'm pretty anal about my vehicles and don't want to get a "lemon". Bringing it back and forth to the dealership for 'repairs", is not an option for me. One being time and two being that I don't know who is working on it and how it's being treated. That would really bother me.
I'll just keep following these threads here and on the other forum. Hopefully it get all get sorted out soon. There really isn't anything else that interests me out there at the moment. Maybe the new Raptor when it comes out next year, but I'd rather have the V8, but it all depends.

I'm there with you. We tested a ecoboost Ford Expedition EL and as nice as the truck was I didn't care for the engine. I'd much rather have the V8. I just don't trust anything that starts with Eco right now.

Especially in a big rugged truck like the Raptor. Unless it's got tons of power and torque. We'll see what they do with it. Comes out next year in the fall.
I did test drive a 2014 Ford Tremor, which had the EcoBoost as well. Nice looking truck inside and out, but I didn't like the way it felt driving it.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

So, my SRT lemon started making a terrible howling sound today from somewhere in the rear end, so back in it went. Sigh. I think I'm now on my 7th or eighth time dropping the POS off at the dealer. Anyway they let me take a new Ram 1500 home for the day while they look at my SRT. It's a nice truck with no shifting issues what so ever. Why can my Jeep SRT shift like this. I understand the are totally different vehicles, but I have yet to feel this Ram have a single bad shift either up or down. I'm hopeful that this is what is normal for this transmission and not the clunking nightmare that is in the SRT.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

The 5.7L Ram 1500 I had with the same tranny is part of the reason I wanted another vehicle with it...it shifted like a dream. What a disappointment...but it's why I strongly believe there has to be a software component responsible for most of this...it's the same trans! Only thing I can imagine is they have a completely different software team, or they just struggle to make it shift smoothly with the higher torque and HP in the 6.4L. But that shouldn't be in play on a downshift anyway right? Who knows at this point...

Also I REALLY gambled on my replacement...November build Red Vapor, bought out of state and didn't drive it. I am not a clever man.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

I'm enjoying this truck so much I may trade in my Duramax. My wife even likes driving it. The ride quality is awesome! I'd like to try the air ride Ram, but that may come with its own set of problem. I need to learn to be happy without all the gadgets.

Out of the big three manufacturers, the Ram ride is the best in my opinion. It not only rides the best, but feels/seems the quickest too.
I LOVE my 2005 Ram 1500 Daytona truck.

I don't really need the tow capacity of my 2500HD and the ride quality of the 1500 is outstanding. I had to bring it back this afternoon and already miss it. I'm thinking a 1500 RAM with the rambox and air suspension. 👍🏻 The payload capacity is pretty small, but I'm feeling they are under rating them.

It's a great truck!
I have a 2005, which is a third generation Ram, but I started a poll on ramforum.com on how many miles on people's thrid generation Ram and a lot of them are well over 100K. I only have 73,500 on my 2005. Only one major issue which was totally covered and I didn't have to pay a dime. That was the EVAP issue, but this truck was known for that on the third generations. Not sure if that has carried over into the 4th generation or not.
A new Ram is on my list as well as other vehicles, since it looks like Jeep keeps dropping the ball unfortunately.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

So after getting the reflash for the shift update it solved the problem for a couple of days. Now it is clunking every time I am coasting. Time to take it back to again to see what the next step is.

That sucks.
I don't understand Jeep's thinking on this. Updates and they still don't help, but sometimes make it worse? "Almost" seems like they don't care/know what to do. That's a shame.
Good luck going forward bmob!
