I mentioned some people have had success with the transfer case. I just want this done and over with... It's been over a month and at the shop for 8 days or so. What's your situation?

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

Hey guys. I finally started to feel and hear the dreaded "clunk". I take it pretty easy but sometimes in beat it like my GTI so now I'm starting to notice the issues with the 2014.
I'm going to try and see what the dealer says. A buddy of mine had the same issue and they bought his 2014 SRT back and ordered him a 2015 SRT from Texas. He has no issues with his 2015.

They seem to have bought back an awful lot of SRT's with this issue and still no definitive answer to the problem.

I did give the SRT folks a call and filed a claim / complaint with them. They want me to bring it in but to be honest I'm not sure that's doing to do a lot of good considering I don't think they really know what the fix is. So I haven't brought it in yet as I'm not convinced it will actually be worthwhile.

Push for a new transfer case. It's the only thing not replaced on mine.

Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

Well the tech advisor drove my jeep and said "it's operating the way it should" I'm a bit furious right now. There's no way this is how a $65k vehicle should drive. And to be sure I'm not crazy I test drove a 2015 right down the street from the dealership that has comparable miles (20,500) and ofcourse that one drove the way it should. No clunks.... Still downshifted firm but didn't sound like the trans was loose like mine does. I'm not a happy customer right now. I've never really had an issue with a vehicle like this so im a bit lost on what to do. I would like Chrysler/Jeep to make it right because I'm a fan of their products (I've had 6 of them) but if they continue to give me the that's how it's supposed to be, I'll never buy a product/car of theirs again (what a shame)

I will try... I'm not sure it will be loud enough to capture on my cell phone... It's worth a shot.

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

Well the SRT case manager "chris" called me and said that's all they will be doing for me. I asked to bring it to a specialist and I'd pay to diagnose it. He said "The vehicle is driving like it should be" if I hadn't already owned a 2014 I might believe it.... I'm really frustrated I just want this thing to run like it should. Well I guess I'm going to trade it in or sell it and buy a vehicle from a company who stands behind their products. Unless anyone has any ideas for me

Clearly they don't have a clue on how to remedy the issue. And that's a big reason why I haven't even bothered to bring mine back in. I'll just get the same ole song and dance, so why waste my time. I too have debated getting rid of mine for something else......

Re: Clunk/thunk on 6-5 coasting downshift.

I feel your pain. The purpose of this post is just to share my experience with you guys. I've been a jeep guy for awhile and I was so disappointed with the customer service when my 2014 SRT was giving me the same problem a lot of you are facing, I had to trade it in with only 5,000 miles. I went through the process: I opened a case with SRT, it was in the shop 4 different time, had the regional FCA manager drive it, & even had an FCA Engineer drive it. It's funny, the dealership definitely said something was wrong. The FCA field Engineer also said something was wrong. the FCA regional manager said the Jeep was running as it should be. So, I followed the instructions in the manual and opened a case with the National Dispute resolution agency, which by the way was a waste of time , at least for me. They sent out a case manger who wouldn't even drive the Jeep; just sat in the passenger seat while I drove the Jeep around. After the drive, we have a conference call with an FCA Lawyer in Detroit and she was not budging. The one statement that really pissed me off is she said, sitting in Detroit, that the Jeep is functioning as it should because it gets you from point A to point B. I replied that if I wanted to just get from A to B, I would have bought a Hyundai, no offense to Hyundai but I wouldn't buy a Hemi to get from A to B. In the end, the National Dispute agency sided with FCA and I figured life was too short to live with this ordeal so I traded it in. It's sad because I was a Jeep guy for so long but after the lack of customer service/satisfaction, I will never buy a product that FCA makes. I guess the moral of the story is Life's too short; you got to enjoy what you drive, especially for car guys. I sincerely hope it works out for you guys.

Well well well. That story sounds ever so familiar. I had the exact same scenario. Owned the car for about 9,000 miles. I was a jeep guy as well. Owned 2 SRTs before this one and a Jeep Wrangler along with 3 other Chrylser Products. So that's 7 in under 15 years. Well that was the LAST one I will ever own, and already convinced one of my Customers to not buy a Jeep because of my issues. He was looking at a SRT 2 days ago and called me yesterday. I told him buy a car from a company who will stand behind it. He will be buying a x5.

There's is so much good in those vehicles but unfortunately the Service and Customer Care make the car worthless. 👎🏻 FCA

Sorry for your issues enjoy the new car.
