Constant Hot Air Blowing

Since I have had my SRT (10 000km) now, when I have the fan on in the car to bring in air from the outside, it blows hot air.

The temp setting on the climate control is set to low, however I still get hot air.

If I use the recirculate button, the air almost feels as if the AC is on that's how cold it gets.

I don't like AC and would prefer air from the outside ( can't always drive with window open)

Anyone else have this issue and how did you solve it, my service guys are clueless!

Thanks

I am having this same issue as well as 12 other warranty issues. I'm taking the SRT in sometime this week to have a second go at getting some of the problems fixed. I'll let you know how I go with the hot air if you haven't already resolved it. Love this car but can't help but wish I got the C63.

Hey mate,
Got the jeep back last week and was pretty much told that the hot air blowing is because of heat generated by the motor heating up the air as it enters the car and they didn't seem to address the issue that the air was ice cold if I hit the recirculate button. Sounded like a piss weak excuse to me as that is all they seem to have for a lot of my warranty issues. I am in the process of getting people higher up the chrysler chain involved as the jeep was also supposed to have the transmission update to fix the rough shifts as they advised me to do the first time I took it in for this issue. When I picked it up they said they did nothing to the transmission because there was nothing they can do to fix it even though I have paper work from them from the first time I took it to them asking me to leave it with them for two days so they could apply the update and perform the relearning process. When I showed them their original paper work stating this they just kind of starred at me like I was a time traveler from a parallel universe. I hope you are getting better service than I.

the air was ice cold if I hit the recirculate button.
I read in another thread that by selecting "recirculate" the AC actually does come on. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm also having the constant hot air blowing problem and thought I had it solved by selecting recirculate, but I don't want turn the AC on just to fix this problem. This was allegedly addressed at a recent servicing but it's still blowing hot air.

Well nothing as yet, mine is booked in for a first service next month.

They say they are going to remove the entire dash and climate/infotainment unit and see if that is faulty.

They will replace it with another from another vehicle and test.

I will certainly let you know what the results are, it all sounds bs to me!

Thanks bro. The head michanic at this dealership is very arrogant and hard to communicate with which makes it even more difficult.
Good luck. I'm sure your guys are much better. The fact they are willing to pull you SRT apart to that degree speaks volumes for their service.

All our service guys are useless to be honest. They are plug and diagnose specialists that's all!

The services manager where I bought my SRT is a female, so there is no arrogance with her like I have found with most of the male managers at other dealers.

She thinks out the box and tries to resolve every issue methodically and not necessarily by the book if you know what I mean.

I have to say I am a little concerned about what they are planning to do.

Generally I think more issues can come of it like damage to the dash and rattles and squeaks!

I'll let you know bud!

Update: my truck is currently at the workshop, they have apparently got a GC there that they are running comparative tests with in terms of how much engine heat they both emit at idle running!

How can you compare an SRT with a regular GC.....?

If they cannot find a problem.... Then there is nothing they can do I am told!

I CALL BS on that!

Older cars had a cable type system, when you choose heat you simply moved a knob/lever on your dash to the red side and you had heat, the reverse for cool air.

This knob was connected to either a vacuum line which ran down to a vacuum heater tap somewhere under the bonnet.

The lever was connected to a cable then to the heater tap.

When you move either you opened the heater tap or closed it.

Using this principle why wouldn't the IDOIT service people simply block off the heater line (you only need to block one off to stop the circuit) running off the engine and take the vehicle for a run with just the fan running and no A/C (you could even disconnected the wire on the A/C to stop it coming on altogether) and see if it blows hot air

if it does it's the engine soaking heat into the firewall of the vehicle and heating up that way.............your buggered in that case except to say that Jeep need to spend some money on some proper insulation...

if it doesn't blow hot air anymore it's going to be whatever turns the heat on from the engine (remember the old school heater tap above) maybe the the heater/AC air door actuators/gears broken faulty....or something that turns on and off as you select the temperature you require..

My 2015 SRT does the same thing, it's winter here in Aus I'll fix it in the summer..

Picked up my 2015 SRT a few months ago (~3500kms). Just caught the tail end of the nice warm weather here in Melb, and noticed on hotter days, especially in stop start traffic, without AC on the climate just blows hot air regardless of the temp setting. Haven't tried recirc.
Now the cooler weather has kicked in I've found myself turning it upto 20-22 without the AC on as it's too cold.

These V8s throw out a bit of heat and I've just put the hot air in the cabin down to poor AC air intake placement. If you look in the performance pages at the engine intake temps they're pretty high. I've seen mine at 80C and that's pretty much behind the front right headlight.

If it's not supposed to be pumping hot air without the AC on I'd be interested to know, but I suspect it's a limitation of physics, nothing cooling the air you get whatever it comes in at regardless of what the climate control temp is set to.

The AC in my 2014 SRT works just fine, but they did have to replace the blend door gears, and they also said the system was over charged at the factory.... Normally in recirculation mode, the AC takes the air in the car and keeps re circulating and re cooling that air, rather than taking in outside air and cooling that... That way the system can drop the temp faster and often keep it cooler
