Dealer Emblems- WHY WHY

This happens to be a pet peeve of mine and really hate when dealers do this. After buying a new car, lets take a SRT8 for example, they install a dealer license plate frame with all the dealer info. Ok fine, I usually take that off and hand it right back to them or toss it in the trash when i get home.

But when the dealer puts on stickers that show the name of the dealership and info right on the lower left of a brand new 60+ K Jeep, that just blows my mind.

Why? I dont remember signing an arrangement that said I would advertise anything for you and do it for free. Are you that hard up that you have to ruin a beautiful car/suv with something you can post on the internet or the yellow pages?

3 dealers in the NJ area (and when you look on Utube just to get a view of a jeep) put this crap on the back of new SRT8's.

I will gladly tell people where I bought it from, but please keep your stickers for the used cars or the kids that come with thier parents. It is so tacky and a cry for desperation sales lead. If someone likes the car/jeep they will find it. If you are a good dealer and offer great service they will come to you, not because of some crap sticker on the back of my car.

I highly doubt that the person i just blew by at 90 mph on the njtp is going to zone in on the lower left of my jeep and say "dam Im going to abc dealer to get me one of those"

thanks for reading and have a sticker free day

Re: Dealer Emblems- WHY WHY

its not the ? of taking it off (which is a pain in the ass), the ? was why? At most dealers in NJ (because they have added 5+k worth of dealer xtras) its a 78k (after T,T,T,R). Its not a Aveo, Neon or Kia. Why do dealers ruin it? Ask the customer if they mind if they tattoo thier new car. Stop assuming.

ps- try peeling that stuff off and getting it off in the first try.

Re: Dealer Emblems- WHY WHY

I agree with you. When I bought my BMW Z3 back in 2000, I was pleased that that dealership did not put a sticker on my car. When I got the Overland, I was a little annoyed that the Jeep dealer did. I was pleasantly surprised when I peeled it back with a fingernail and the entire sticker came off with no mess.

Re: Dealer Emblems- WHY WHY

When I ordered mine, I had put it in writing not to install the front plate bracket and not to put a dealer decal on the back. And then the closer it came to delivery I kept reminding them of my requests. If you didn't order the vehicle, then it's standard practice for the dealer to apply those things to "their" vehicles, if you ordered it then it would have been "your" vehicle.

So all and all, remove it.

Matt

Re: Dealer Emblems- WHY WHY

I only had one car that had a sticker on it and I told them to remove it or I will not be signing the paper work. I even take off the plate holders as well.

I was expecting this story to end with them ignoring your request and putting decal and bracket on anyways!

Re: Dealer Emblems- WHY WHY

OOOHHH!!! Bagwell, thank you for reminding me!

I just ordered mine today and it's in transit, should arrive in a week or so. After reading your post, I sent the dealer an e.mail to be sure they don't put one of these annoying emblems or stickers on my new ride. I had planned to do that as part of the deal, but forgot in all the back and forth.....
Thank you....thank you ......thank you!!!!

Re: Dealer Emblems- WHY WHY

Y'all don't know how well you've got it. I remember the old days when dealers installed pot metal badges on your car. They were attached by first drilling two holes...
