Damn.....just damn. I was hoping you'd have better luck. Now you just need your district service manager to tell you it's operating normally. I'm ready to give mine back too.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

Don't need to, my friend at Chrysler is not going to let me get stuck with a $70K vehicle that they can't fix.

I'll be discussing what's required to allow her to initiate the buyback in the next week or so...even if that means they have to take another run at the tranny issue first.

What breaks my heart is that there is nothing else that I want right now that competes with the Jeep, but I'm reluctant to order another one because I'm not convinced they don't all have this issue. Only other thing on the radar is the Hellcat Charger and it's another Chrysler product! Not to mention near impossible to get right now.

What drew me to the SRT was its performance and practicality. I like the hellcat, but it's pretty one dimensional. I'm not sure what I'd replace mine with either.

Well if you can find similar performance and practicality in the $70K range, let me know lol. I've already looked.

The only reason I'm remotely attempting to convince myself the Charger is practical is because it has 4 doors...

Rear seat headroom sucks in the charger and no AWD. Also it lacks any tow capability. If I knew of a place that could fix this tranny I'd happily pull it out myself and ship it to them. Everything else I can live with, but the 6-5 clunk is just killing it for me.

You are exactly where I am at...can live with little stuff (most of which I can fix myself if I really feel like it), but the tranny is a dealbreaker.

And like I said...4 doors is the only thing I've come up with so far. Back seats are for kids so not too worried there.

That stinks about your Jeep. I hope that Chrysler takes care of you and does the right thing. No way a 70K vehicle should be having problems like that. The thing is, it's not only yours that does it. There are more than a couple that complain about it.

^I'm in the same boat. I really want a 2015 Jeep SRT 8, but I am a little reluctant now. Nothing else out really interests me as well. I may wait for the 2016/2017 Raptor, just wish it still had the V8 though.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

They finally got mine fixed - 2014 with 9K miles. My clunk happened when decelerating and the speed fell below the 28MPH mark and would also happen if you gave it gas after it went under 28MPH. The dealer had it for 41 days, but finally fixed it. Here were the steps:

1. Apply software update - no change
2. Installed new drive shaft - no change
3. Installed new differential and differential mounts - no change
4. Installed new control arm - no change
5. Installed new transfer case - FIXED!!

They finally had an expert mechanic from Chrysler come out and take a look at it - he was the one that recommended the transfer case replacement.

The waiting was the worst part, but glad to have it back and the noise gone.

This is in line with my suspicions, given that a full tranny/torque converter replacement made NO difference in mine, has to be something else in the driveline.

That said, a transfer case shouldn't be causing the actual "jerk" on the 6-5 downshift, only the clunking noise that accompanies it. So the transmissions (or related software) are still extremely rough in my opinion, even if the transfer case potentially fixes it.

My Chrysler friend is flying out an engineer she works with to look at mine this week, presumably they will reach a similar conclusion and be replacing yet something else in the driveline.

In CA, if the car is out of service >30 days it's eligible for buy back. Still not sure, even if they fix the issues, whether I'll want to keep it at this point. It's been around the proverbial block one too many times for a $70K car that's 2 months old.

So your clunk didn't correlate with any specific gear change? I also get a clunk if I lightly get back on the throttle after a 6-5 downshift. Slop in the transfer case possibly.
