Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

This is the first TSB I've seen (for the 8HP70, unfortunately it's for the 3.0L Diesel only for now) that addresses directly the 6-5 tug/pull/jerk sensation:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2104515.pdf

Let's hope that's coming to the SRT sometime in the future, and that it actually resolves it. My replacement vehicle has no more clunking, but the downshifting behavior is still a little less than the quality I'd prefer.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

Any update on what causes this issue? I recently purchased a 2016 Jeep SRT and I love everything about it except for this clunking issue. With mine it happens between 18-20 mph while decelerating every single time. In traffic and driving around town it really ruins the driving experience. I am going to be taking mine to my dealer soon to have it looked at and it would be nice to be able to point them in the right direction so I can have it in and out of the shop as soon as possible.

Good luck! 6 trips to the dealer for me in 2 years for the "clunk" and it never got better (and fortunately never really got worse). But I feel your pain, driving in town with the constant up and down shifts, the clunk is extremely annoying. I solved the problem by getting rid of my SRT. And unfortunate resolution, but wasn't willing to just live with it anymore and saw no hopes of a fix in the near future.

SOLVED: I got sick of 3 local dealers that were not interested in my transmission issues, so I found my own solution; and it works!!
http://www.zautotech.com/tazer.html
Anytime your transmission starts to harsh shift, this unit allows you to reset the transmission adaptives whilst driving- simple press steering wheel "OK" and Cruise control buttons simultaneously and OMG! Transmission is set to factory standard - no clunky up shifts or down shifts.
I was seriously considering trading my SRT so I thought I'd give this ODB2 device a go. I'm so happy now as I love my SRT beastie.

Does it happen in all drive modes? Try driving it in sport mode. It might just be the cylinder deactivation

Nope, still the same for me after almost three years. Noticed it today getting off the highway. Love the truck to get rid of it for that. Always seems 4th to 3rd for me. Software updates helped but never fully went away. Got to try the Tazer thing though as I heard it also let's you smoke the tires. 😁

I am no way affiliated with Taser, but honestly it is the best solution for my 2015 SRT. I have spent so much time running around from dealer to dealer trying to resolve my harsh down shift issue. US$250 is a small price to pay for an instant and simple transmission reset; plus your can force rear wheel drive only - loads of fun, but crazy in the wet!
It also includes a "line locker" function, if you are interested in burnouts :-/

Hi there, sad to say but I stomped my feet to Jeep NZ and got a whole new vehicle. The agent tried resetting all settings, brand new gearbox from states and many other things but no good. They didn't replace the transfer box so guessing this is the next thing I'd try. Really annoying and I feel for you, ruined me Jeep experience. If you bought it new throw your toys out of the cott at Jeep and get it sorted. My new Jeep is the bees knees and will upgrade to Hell cat when available here in NZ. Good luck mate.

We have the same story. I swear it's something in the transfer case. Every other component of my driveline was replaced. Thank God I threw in the towel before they got to that. I didn't want it after it had been torn apart and put back together. I'm sure the Car Fax would have been pages long. Not a good thing to have on a new vehicle.

Resetting adaptives, is it a permanent fix or does it come back and you reset it again?

So I went to the dealer had the new transmission update still the same ? So as of 2 weeks ago I did the disconnection of the battery that I read on this site, but I left my battery disconnected for about 10hrs and most people have been doing just 30mins disconnection.

As of 2 weeks ago when I done this my transmission is awesome, so far no clunks or bangs or bad shifting between 5 to 1 gears while going slow ?? I hope it last I really do because this is how the bloody car should have come . My car is the March 2014 SRT build . And I hope this works for someone else as I have read it works for some and not others

Super late on this but my 17 has this clunk. Youd think they would fix it on the most up to date models.

How is it holding up?

How were you driving your car after the disconnection of the battery? Like you did on the break in period or driving like you should. Maybe we should copy you to get it to adapt like that haha.
