Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I've just purchased a 2016 SRT8 in the Middle East. The car is GCC spec, and had only 10 miles on the clock when I took it for a test drive. Had a full inspection completed by Jeep (I paid out the nose for it) but thankfully Jeep gave me the warranty, since the car is from a neighboring country.
Anyway, in my third day of driving it, after slowing down for a turn or signal that went from red to green, "clunk" in the rear. I also sometimes hear it if I go from D to R gear.
Yesterday, the "lead engineer" came with me and and soon as he heard it he proceeded to tell me its normal and the car has a lot of power going through it so when I slow down and then speed up, that is what is causing it. Of course I argued with the fella, questioning why on earth would they let this car off the line with this noise thinking it was acceptable? I had a transmission software update and so far no noise... I'm a bit pissed by it all now as I could have bought something else.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I had the 6-5 clunk as well. 2017 with 1590km now. There was a flash update for it for the PCM, I got that done last week and that did nothing but quiet the clunk down just a little. I drove it for a week to see if it would stop but nothing.

I took it back in this morning and asked them to remove shift adaptives and do a relearn, they didn't recommended it as they usually only do this when a part is changed out. The foreman went for a drive with me and heard exactly what I was talking about and told me to leave it with him.

They rang me just before closing time and told me the car was ready. I was very skeptical because I've done so much reading and no one seems to be able to have found the problem or fixed it.

Got there and they told me they recalibated the TCM, went for a drive and it did the exact same thing, then they recalibrated the PCM, same thing. Then they went on to recalibrate the electronic rear diff and told me this had fixed the problem, the foreman drove it for quite a while trying to recreate what I had shown him when I had dropped it off.

The last time I dropped it off and they told me it was fixed, 6-5 clunk happened straight away as soon as I got out of the service centre. This time, nothing. It it completely gone, every time I came to a stop on the way home I was literally preparing myself for the clunk and bump that can be felt as I have for the last 1500km.

Hope this helps everyone and saves them a lot of time - Recalibrate the electronic rear diff
