No more clunk after the dealer recall for the half shafts, completely gone now, however still a little rough when downshifting from 5-4 and a surge after the downshift.

My issue with 5-4 got much better after 3000 miles, but still there to a small degree....less actual "clunk", but still rough downshift.
Would be thrilled if this got ironed out, but stopped stressing about it a while ago. Love this Jeep.

Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

Emailed dealer service department today because it has been yet another week without hearing anything back. Service manager has yet to hear from the "Field Tech". His response to me was basically how do we now that they all don't drive like this/live with it. So I called Jeep Customer Care to see if I could get some help with moving this along and all they did is called my dealership and got the same story I'd told him. They did however assign a case manager to me and I'm now supposed to hear from them in 2-3 business days.

This has been going on for over two weeks now. How long is it supposed to take a "Field Tech" to return a call to a service department?

I was told by Chrysler Care that my vehicle is "Drivable". Well, drivable and acceptable are two different things. I'm really regretting the purchase of this vehicle at this point.

I too am having the 6-5 shift clunk noise. I started noticing it around 200 miles and now I have 525 miles and it does it every time at that shift downshift point. I checked the sticker on the inside drivers door to find my SRT was built on 08-13-14 7:00AM. The closet match I've found on the TSB list is this one. http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2103814.pdf

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been battling this issue now for over a month. I'm now waiting to hear from a case manager. Keep this thread updated with your progress on this. Your dealer will probably start with wanting to change the valve body in the transmission. It did absolutely nothing for mine. I'm also up to date on all software updates and currently have about 1300 miles on mine with no "learned" improvement.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I was in touch with Chrysler Care this morning. The case worker was very apologetic about the trouble I've been having with my SRT. She arrange a three way call between her, myself, and service manager. Service manager started out the conversation with "we will not be eating the cost of any rental cars". Wow really! That's how this is going to be. The Chrysler care representative cut him short and informed him that Chrysler would be covering the cost of a rental cost and to go ahead and have one readied. He then proceeded to tell her that they had driven another SRT on their lot and they both perform the same and he didn't feel anything else could be done for mine. Care representative then when ahead and asked him to schedule another appointment with me while we were all on the phone together and informed me a Chrysler technician would be scheduled to look at my SRT at that time. The dealer service manager was very short and argumentative with Care representative. My closing remarks to the rep. was "See what I'm dealing with". She said yup. I asked if I could/should try a different dealership. She replied "Not at this time lets try to work through this.

Anyway, I'm scheduled to drop it off next Wednesday morning at 8:30. I'm hopeful something can be done with my Jeep.

I feel like I've made more progress in the past couple days calling Chrysler to complain than my dealer has made in three weeks.

I want to do a walk around of my SRT with the service department to ensue I receive it back in the same condition that I dropped it off in. This may be anal, but I have lost faith in this dealership.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

Feel your pain - the dealers are the dam in the stream of life.

I've been watching/listening to mine closely since all my TSB's and call me crazy - but I have noticed a more noticeable 6th to 5th 'loading up/release' it is not a clunk but a definite jerk. Before it was 5th to 4th - and that is all gone... and nothing on the upshift that is smooth. So while not the same, did want to point it out... WFIW

So maybe the other jeeps do have it - but that doesn't make it right. With all the re-programming of the tranny on this rig I think they should have put the larger/more torque handling 8ZF in this ride.

Good luck

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I'm hopeful I get a tech that sees that there is a problem and not the "they all do that live with it" tech. Even if it comes to them admitting there is a software issue and a new program is being worked on. Give me some hope for this vehicle.

I'll keep updating in hopes that this thread helps some other poor soul with an unsympathetic service department. This was my 4th Jeep in three years that I purchased from this dealership. Close to $200k in vehicles and am feeling unimportant to them. I'm not one to cry wolf. The only other issue besides regular maintenance I've ever brought to this service department is a bad satellite antenna on my wife's Jeep Rubicon. My money is going elsewhere next time.

Sorry to hear of you problems with both a brand new vehicle and a dealership that treats its best customers this way. Sad but this is a reoccurring issue that a lot of us have gone through. If it doesn't get better just park that sucker in front of the dealership with a big fat sign in the winshield saying. " just bought this $7X,000 vehicle here and this dealer refuses to fix it right" BUY SOMEWHERE ELSE! I'd be surprised if you had to do that more than one day. Good luck bro

It's funny you mentioned that. I hate it when dealerships stick their stickers all over the vehicle(mine has two on the back from this dealership). I've left them on as a curtesy to the sales department which I feel has treated me well, but now I'm peeling them off or I'm going to have some "DO NOT BUY FROM" stickers made up. Service after the sale is more important than the sale and they have failed miserably.

I'm hoping this Chrysler tech brings an open mind that not all things built today are beyond fault and that I can be done with this dealership.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I feel like the clunk sound that I'm experiencing is more of a "thunk" then a clunk. I feel like the sound is coming from the rear of the vehicle more then beneath me where the transmission is located.
It's almost as if something is slightly lose or out of spec. I first noticed it on the 6-5 downshift but have also been noticing it when coming to a stop and then accelerating again in traffic and over speed bumps? Going in tomorrow to get the latest software installed.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I thought about mine possible being the driveshaft or rear differential at one point, but it never made sense to me why it only made the noise on the 6-5 downshift for me. Sometimes I get a little clunk again when slightly pressing on the throttle when in 4th after the 6-5-4 downshift. Mine shifts smoothly everywhere else. I can accept a little driveline slop, but the jerking feeling and noise mine makes is just too much.
